Wednesday September 3rd 2025 "Have YOU 'pranged' your car recently? Usually it's not as bad as it sounds, which is a comfort!"

We've all done it - "pranged" the car on some hard-to-see obstacle! There was a seeming nastly "prang" in today's Onion News, which fortunately sounded much worse than it actually was, for one local driver at least (!).

Poor Garner !!!! He must have had a worrying few seconds there over in Middle Wallop before realising he'd had a lucky escape and quickly speeding off, to get on with his day!

And the story brought a chuckle to the mouths of me and my medium-to-light wife Lois this morning, literally "just down the road" from Garner, here in rural, semi-leafy Liphook, Hampshire.

We laughed because today, on this rain-and-wind-affected day, the "big event" will be nothing more than greeting "cheeky chappie" Cockney garage-door fitter Russell and his teenage daughter Mia, who'll be working outside our house in the rain this afternoon. We've called him out to replace some dented "slats" in the shiny-new roller garage door he installed for us a couple of weeks ago.

All sorted by 4pm, so let's hope that injured pedestrian over in Middle Wallop is also feeling much better now also! With a sink plunger and maybe a spot of something out of a tube from the Boots Skincare Range, and he should be good as new, fingers crossed!

Too late however, for Lois and me to go to bed "for our usual" (!), which is a pity!

We make up for it, however, by an early bed this evening. We watch the first 15 minutes of a massive BBC4 Peter Sellers Night, and then call it a day.

It's nice tonight to see some of Peter's early home-movies especially this clip of "The Great Berko". Lois and I have watched this clip over and over, but we still can't see how he does it.

Answers needed urgently - postcards only!!!

You know the one I mean - the one where he nips behind a screen and you see his clothes being hurled into the air one after another, until he emerges from behind the screen 11 seconds later, in a dress, doing a note-perfect impression of Princess Margaret?

Fascinating stuff, isn't it!

Will this do?

[Oh just go to bed! Oh - I see you're already in it! - Ed]

21:15 We've gone to bed - zzzzzz!!!!
