10:00 A nice "productive" morning - at 10 am, we get a visit from pleasantly "our-age" blinds-fitter Chris, of Hillary's Blinds, who measures the windows in the back of our new-build house, so we can get them fitted out at last.
It's unsettling living in a house with no curtains or blinds at the windows. Luckily however, nobody ever walks past our windows in the evenings apart from our neighbours Matt and Timaira (west side) and Laurence (east side), who are the only other residents of the street currently. And the back of the house is pretty private anyway. Also, we've managed to put up makeshift barriers to give us some privacy, like the dismantled cardboard box which we've retained, to protect our privacy upstairs.
11:00 Chris leaves - he'll be back next month to fit the blinds. The poor soul, imagine having to work at his age. It's madness !!!! Still it's been nice to chat with him about the evils of modern technology, such as having to sign a contract with your finger on an ipad - what madness (again) !!!!
11:30 We settle down to order online a delivery of groceries from the local Morrisons supermarket in our new home town of Malvern. Again, perhaps totally unjustifiably it gives us a warm feeling of being productive, which is nice.
12:45 Sarah, our younger daughter, texts us from Australia. Lois and I are hoping to help her and her husband Francis to move back to the UK next year and buy a house in the Malvern area. Sarah and Francis have decided to put in an offer on a house-for-sale that we and our other daughter Alison viewed on their behalf at the weekend. Sarah wants me to email her a letter that they can show to the estate agent to demonstrate that they have the necessary funds.
Will the vendors accept the offer? Well, we'll see!
