We wake up to another cold morning - brrrr!!!!!

the snow outside our room, that we wake up to this morning
- brrrrr!!!!

08:30 We have a nice breakfast in the Church Farm Lodges breakfast room. We try and "stoke up", because we don't know what meals we will get today. We have to check out of Church Farm by 10:30 am, but we can't check into our Cambridge room till 3 pm. Isn't it awful to be room-less, especially with the temperatures being below freezing - call me pampered and spoilt if you like!

We drive over to Cambridge - another horrific drive for me, as a "Sunday driver", because we find we're mostly surrounded by lorries driving to or from Felixstowe, Britain' busiest container port. I thought Brexit was supposed to end all that "trade with Europe" nonsense!

12:00 We drop in at the Starbucks concession at one of the local Sainsbury supermarkets and have a couple of cappuccinos, but we can't have lunch there, because we ate too much for breakfast, and we're still not hungry yet. What madness!

After the coffees, we go into the supermarket part and get some things to have for a late lunch we're planning for after we check in at our Cambridge guest-house. We come out pleased with ourselves because for the first time we use the self-checkout system successfully without having to call for assistance.

Are we becoming fit for the modern world at last? [I don't think I'd put it that strongly! - Ed]

13:00 We go for a walk in the park near my sister Gill's house, Cherry Hinton Hall park.

we visit Cherry Hinton Hall park, which is
round the corner from my sister Gill's house

14:15 We drop in at my sister Gill's house and have a nice chat with her. Her daughters Lucy and Maria, plus Maria's husband Tom are also at the house, making the rooms ready for the planned get-together that will follow tomorrow's funeral of Gill's husband Peter, who sadly died just before Christmas.

15:00 We drive over to our guest-house, check in, and have our late lunch in the breakfast room.

20:00 We go to bed on an old episode of the old 1970's sitcom "Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em", you know, the one where Frank somehow ends up in with Betty in their old Morris Minor hanging halfway off a clifftop above the English Channel.

You must remember this one! Frank and Betty are already half off the cliff, and Frank remembers he's got a heavy bag of fertilizer in the boot, and he tries to climb over the roof of the car to open the boot and get the fertilizer out. All the more scary because, as we know now, Michael Crawford, who played Frank, always insisted on doing his own stunts and so everything was done exactly as it appears in the programme, with no camera tricks. Yikes !!!!!

Yikes (again) !!!!!

22:00 We go to bed - zzzzzzz!!!!!!
