A quiet day - mine and Lois's 5th full day staying with our daughter Alison, son-in-law Ed, and our 3 grandchildren Josie (15), Rosalind (13) and Isaac (11).
It's quiet because Josie and Rosalind start back at school today after the week's half-term break, and that applies also to Ali herself, who works part-time as a teacher's assistant. So in the house it's just Lois and me, plus Ed who's on the computer all day doing his high-powered legal job online, and Isaac, who's playing computer games.
We're left to our own devices, so Lois does a bit of knitting: she's knitting a child's scarf for charity. She wears fingerless gloves, because Ali and Ed like to keep their house a bit cooler than we're used to, so it all helps haha!

Then we do 30 minutes of "Danish", and, after that, we fill in and sign (with a mouse: what madness!), our risk forms for our dental appointment later this week.
We struggle to fill in our dentist's risk assessment form
online and try to sign our names using a mouse.
What a crazy world we live in !!!!!!
After that, we go for a walk in the neighbourhood. On the way out of the driveway, we check out the fallen tree on the road outside. Yes, it's still there haha!
the fallen tree is still blocking the road outside the house
- damn !!!!!!!
After lunch and a quick nap we have to drive Isaac to his piano lesson in Liphook.
Yesterday Ali showed us a guaranteed fallen-tree-free route, via the main road from Headley to Liphook, but guess what? We find that that road has been blocked by 3 trees falling over the road today at a big bend, so we have to reverse back 100 yards and then navigate the narrow lanes across-country to get him there - and we manage to get him there to his piano lesson with 5 minutes to spare: another good result for our habit of always leaving insanely early and allowing a ludicrous amount of time - it's a life-saver yet again haha!!!!!

flashback to yesterday: Alison shows us an allegedly
fallen-tree-free route to Isaac's piano teacher's house
What a crazy world we live in !!!!!!
16:15 Ali arrives back after picking up Isaac from his piano lesson. Then she has to take the 2 girls to their piano lesson (at the same place, in Liphook), and then drive home again to make a quick meal for Isaac. Ed will then take Isaac to football practice and pick up the girls after their piano lessons.
What madness!!!!
Lois and I are very glad we're not parents of school-age children any more, that's for sure !!!
17:00 I look at the Danish news for Gentofte, the Copenhagen suburb where Alison and family lived for 6 years (2012-2018) and I see they've even got trees down there, blocking roads.
What a crazy continent we live in !!!!!!
19:00 A late dinner, at a time rather too sophisticated for us, followed by an evening watching TV, two editions of the quiz show Celebrity Pointless.
The first one features contestants who are stand-up comedians: Lois and I only really recognise one of the 8 so-called "celebrities", although I think I may have seen two of the others at one time or another.
The second programme features "celebrity" authors, who've written books in the last 20 years or so, not the kind of books that Lois and I read.
Needless to say I've never heard of any of these authors, so it's just like an "ordinary", i.e. non-celebrity "Pointless" to me.
What madness !!!!! [Oh, just go to bed! - Ed]
22:00 We go to bed - zzzzzzzzz!!!!!
