Yes, the news is out! Lots of celebs are secretly or openly afraid of flying, and who's the latest to confess it?
Step forward, daytime TV star Holly Willoughby, who ironically "contracted" her fear of flying after presenting a programme about the "aerophobia" problem! So, maybe, the rest of us should avoid Holly's bad luck there. turn down any offers of a career in television, and try to keep all our collective pairs of feet firmly on the ground!!! [see Onion News for details !!!!]
But my light-to-moderate wife Lois knows exactly how Holly feels - Lois even gets air-sick when running the "flightaware" app on her smartphone, tracking the movements of our two daughters as they "zoom" around the world, "zooming in" [no pun intended!!!] on features such as height-of-aircraft and so-called "knottage" (!!!!).
Pass the sick-bag Alice haha !!!!
my light-to-moderate wife Lois - a recent picture
This time it's our elder daughter Alison (49), who's "zooming" [literally, not in the online meeting sense!!!], together with her family, at the end of their 2 week holiday in faraway Mauritius.
(left to right) our daughter Alison, Isaac (15), our son-in-law Edward,
Rosalind (17) and Josie (18) pictured on Mauritius a few days ago
And Lois and I have got an especially keen interest in any flight delays today, because if Alison and family don't get back to London's Gatwick Airport on schedule, Lois and I will have to spring into action early tomorrow morning, and drive the 7 miles over to Alison's house in Churt, just with the aim of, quite literally, "letting the dogs out" - and the cats too, and any other pets they've got now in their "menagerie"!!!
Busy busy busy!!!
We monitor the family's flight home from Mauritius to the UK throughout today, and we carry on even during the night. having decided to take a snapshot of their plane's position every time we get out of our bed for a "loo break" (!).
a selection of our "snapshots" of Alison and family's flight back from Mauritius,
during the day, and also during the night, whenever we take a loo-break (!!!!)
And these snapshots have a secondary purpose in tracking whether we're taking more, or fewer, night-time "loo breaks", as we "zoom" towards our 80th birthdays next year, would you believe!!!
We've both decided to try and make 80 next year if we possibly can - and we can't really do more!!!!
Today, we do an early morning "brisk to briskish walk" over Old Man Lowsley's Farm, only marred by some not-very-brisk fruit-picking of Lowsley's wild blackberries. Plus we've started using a cooking thermometer to regulate the temperature of the off-the-boil water we use to infuse our green tea bags (170F or 77C is best, if you're interested!!!), and last but not least, we've ordered an exercise bike off Ebay, which should arrive in a few days, with a following wind (!).
our obsession with "making 80" continues with a brisk-to-briskish morning walk
and the purchase of a popular exercise bike off Ebay
We're also watching what we eat, although, on the other hand, we don't want to become too thin and scrawny!!!
And we get some encouragement here on the couch this evening, watching a Victoria Wood retrospective.
And it's interesting to see that Victoria too, and close friend and collaborator Julie Walters, are, like Lois and me, both being careful what they eat, dining here at an Italian restaurant. Their amorous Italian waiter, on the other hand, is urging them to keep their "love handles" (!).
Will this do?
[Oh just go to bed! - Ed]
22:00 We go to bed !!!!!!
