Yes, Friends, have YOU ever "thrown a lunch together" out of whatever looks handy in the kitchen, maybe? A lot of us have, haven't we, and there was even an Onion News story on one such "event", making the local headlines, and causing a lot of comment, here in leafy Liphook, Hampshire this morning, to put it mildly!!!!
Poor Beach !!!!And yes, it was a pity that local guy Beach's perhaps somewhat "poncey" sense of "art" was slightly ruined by that security guard's lunch, which had obviously been "thrown together at the last minute". At least, however, the story brings a much-needed chuckle to the faces of me and my light-to-moderate wife Lois this morning.

Yes you've guessed it - Yours Truly had to actually lend a hand in the kitchen today, producing a lunch and a dinner that were both obviously "thrown together at the last minute", all because poor Lois put her back out last night, calling for an emergency response in the culinary line today from me (!).
flashback to April 2022: Lois shows her obvious delight tucking into
one of my signature dishes - "poached egg surprise", the surprise
being that there is no surprise (!)
[You lazy bastard, Colin! - Ed]
Lois is nothing if not a game gal, though, and despite her back pain she came with me in the car to pick up a Latin text book from Joe, the leader of our local U3A "Intermediate Latin for Old Codgers" group: the group's holding its first meeting in the 2025-2026 "academic year" on Monday.
(left) flashback to last September: locals queue up outside the Town Hall in a bid
to join the U3A "Intermediate Latin for Old Codgers" group, and (right)
me earlier today showcasing the copy of "Latin Prose Composition" that Lois and I
picked up from Joe, the group's leader, at his flat in Haslemere this morning
However, Lois decides definitely, because of her backache, not to go to her church's Sunday Morning Meeting tomorrow.
This is a pity, not least because the members will be having a shared lunch after the meeting, for which we've bought lots of "sinful" treats as our contribution to the meal.
On the plus side, however, this enables us to do some comfort eating tonight, "pigging out" on some of those "sinful" treats, as we watch TV. Not to mention sampling some of the "fun-size" chocolate bars we got delivered this morning in advance of the "trick-or-treaters" we're expecting at Hallowe'en next month.
So all is not lost haha (!).
as we "pig out" on the sinful treats we bought to share with Lois's fellow church members
at their "shared lunch" tomorrow, and (right) some of the chocolate bars
we bought in advance for Hallowe'en trick-or-treaters next month - yum yum!
Yum yum !!!!
Will this do?
[Oh just go to bed! - Ed]
