Wednesday September 9th 2026 "Are YOU worried about so-called 'bots' taking over YOUR world? Well, relax !!!!"

Yes, Friends, are YOU worried about so-called 'bots' - taking over YOUR world as some sort of crazy, malevolent plot by Elon Musk or one of his billionaire buddies? We've all been there, haven't we!!! Onion News is full of these scare-stories - turn to page 94 in the current issue, if you want proof !!!

And if YOU are worried, I'm here to tell you "Relax, don't do it!" in the words of the song! Because the 'bots' are on our side, you'll be relieved to hear!!!! And Yours Truly found this out from my humble copy of political fortnightly, Private Eye, which "plopped" through my letterbox this morning, to put it mildly!!!!

Those warm, fun-loving 'bots' are telling us that we don't need to worry about doom-laden warnings from the so-called Bank of England governor Andrew Bailey, about a global recession driven by the current AI boom, so that's all good!!!!

And that snippet brings an admittedly weak smile back to the lips of me and my wife, here in semi-attractive Liphook, Hampshire this morning - no question about that!

I'll be frank - the bots' warning that we don't need to worry about a global recession comes as a bit of a morale-booster to Lois and me this morning, after a bad start, being 'alarmed' [no pun intended!!!] at 4 am by one of our grandchildren's stuffed toys, Buckles the Unicorn, who seems to have turned on on a noisy air-con unit in our bedroom with its snout, would you believe!

What madness - first it was 'bots', and now it's 'unicorns' !!!  What a crazy world we live in!!!!

a close-up of renegade toys Rover and Buckles, messing about with a power socket
where (we think) they managed to flip a switch last night - what madness, isn't it !!!!

After our investigation, during which we discarded early theories about 'poltergeists', Lois and I have concluded that vibrations coming from our bed around 4 am must have pushed Buckles' snout towards a power socket, and thus flipping the switch. However, your theories welcome - postcards only, needless to say haha!!!!!

In a way, however, it's good that Buckles' snout flipped that switch, and started our day off so early, because we've got a ton of work on our 'to do list' today, that's for sure, what with two of our teenage grandchildren - Rosalind (18) and Isaac (16) coming to stay over with us on Friday night, and again on Sunday night.

flashback to Mother's Day: Lois and I have lunch at pop band Fleetwood Mac's
former 'local', the nearby Crown at Arford, with our daughter Alison and
two of her three teenage offspring, Rosalind and Isaac

Alison's family are going to be 'between houses' around next weekend, because their big move has been scheduled. After 18 months or so in their rental home in Churt, just over the county line in Surrey, Alison plus husband Edward and their 3 offspring will be moving back to their 'real home' - a crumbling Victorian mansion in Headley, Hampshire, which has been undergoing extensive renovation.

Yes, today and tomorrow, Lois and I have to somehow get our own house ready to put up grandchildren Rosalind and Isaac at the weekend, with Lois doing much of the physical work, and me bearing the brunt of the 'planning side', but also me somehow finding time to make teas or coffees for both of us, to keep things 'humming along', which is a very necessary 'adjunct' to the operation, and to our marital 'morale', no doubt about that!

[You lazy so-and-so, Colin! - Ed]

my wife Lois today, cleaning and doing laundry, in an operation
meticulously planned by Yours Truly, an operation which I'm happy
to report "goes like clockwork", which is nice!

The plan is for Rosalind and Isaac to be dropped off at our house by Alison and husband Edward on Friday evening. Then on Saturday the whole family will all be going to Oxford to see a performance by The Arctic Monkeys tribute band "The Antarctic Monkeys" (geddit? haha!!!!) on Saturday night and then dropping the two youngsters off with us again on Sunday evening.

Lois and I will probably also be hosting the whole family for a meal on Sunday night. This coming weekend Alison and family will be officially 'homeless', with Alison and Edward, plus eldest daughter Josie, sleeping in a so-called "shepherd's hut" in their mansion's extensive 7.5 acre grounds, and the other two kids with us.

What madness, isn't it!

Busy busy busy!!!!!

Will this do?

[Oh just go to bed! - Ed]
