Vi glider over i søvnen – zzzzz !!!

18:30 We have dinner and spend the rest of the evening watching TV. They show University Challenge, one of the few television programs that are not suitable for stupid people - ha ha ha!

21:00 We continue to watch TV. They show an interesting documentary about the "renaissance" in art history (Part 3 of 4 - Venice's contributions). The program's host is the eccentric art historian Waldemar Januszczak (I can never pronounce his name) who drags his props along in a battered old suitcase.

He has an ironic sense of humor, which I like. He is slightly overweight, and we see him stamping fast, but heavily and labouredly around Venice, up and down the steps, etc., which I think is a pleasure to see (and hear).

It is a pleasure to see the overweight Waldemar stamping fast and very loudly around Venice!

He's a little skeptical of the idea that the Renaissance was a rebirth in the history of civilization. He shows that the Renaissance artists were very interested in painting naked or nearly naked women, especially the goddess Venus, and Mary Magdalene, whom they insisted was a prostitute, though the Bible says almost nothing about her! My Goodness! Such goings-on!

Waldemar is a little skeptical of the Renaissance: not a true rebirth !!!

The Venetian painters were very interested in the goddess Venus. My Goodness! But she wasn't as cool as she would like people to believe - that I know for certain !!!!!

They were also interested in Mary Magdelene, whom they portrayed as a prostitute - my goodness, nothing but a product of their imagination! What a crazy world we live in !!!!!

22:00 We get into bed and open our current bedtime books, but we decide that we are too tired to read further - my goodness! We drift into sleep - zzzzz !!!

3:30 I get up early and take a look at the internet.

08:00 I bring Lois a cup of tea. We stay in bed and on her behalf I check up on her emails on my smartphone - hurrah! She has got an email from Sylvia, her cousin in Melbourne. Sylvia has organized a full week of activities, starting from the first day we arrive in the city. My Goodness! I do not think that Lois and I will want to do anything except go to bed after our trip from Dubai - we arrive in Melbourne at 5:30am. Who knows if we will have slept or not !!!!!

10:00 My friend, "Magyar" Mike, comes, and we study Hungarian for an hour. He is very thrilled that his eldest grandson, Stephen, is to spend a year in Prague, starting from September, as part of his training program at Lancaster University. Mike is very fond of Prague and plans to visit Stephen during his stay in the Czech Republic.

11:00 Mike has to be off. Lois continues to do a little research on her family tree, especially the Cox family (her mother's family). She hopes that she can be finished with this branch of his family in the next 2 weeks.

13:00 We eat lunch and then I go to bed and take a long nap - zzzzz !!!!

15:00 I get up and we relax with a cup of tea on the sofa.

16:00 I look at the Internet and see some charming photos of our youngest daughter, Sarah, her husband, Francis, and their 2 and three-quarter-year-old twins, Lily and Jessica, on vacation along the coast north of Perth (Australia). They have passed the Tropic of Capricorn (does such a place exist for real ???) and are starting to look around in Shark Bay and feed the local dolphins. My Goodness! Does this really happen? Did they really do it ??? !!!!
