Lois and I spend the morning cleaning up the house, in preparation for the visit of our elder daughter Alison, together with Ed and their 3 children, Josie (12), Rosalind (10) and Isaac (8), as well as Sika, the family’s Danish dog.

12:00 I get an text on whatsapp from Alison - there are huge traffic jams on the M4 motorway and they have decided to take a detour through minor roads out in the countryside. They expect to arrive at about 2 pm or so.

Lois and I have lunch on the terrace. The sun is shining for once, and it's quite warm.

14:00 Alison and her family arrive and they too have lunch on the terrace, and then the children play in the garden.

16:00 The family plus Lois go for a walk with Sika around the local football field.

18:00 We have dinner on the terrace. 

Then Lois, Alison and the three children go in  the garage to look through the bags stuffed full of soft toys, which I collected in the attic some days ago, as part of our current downsizing mini-project. I am genuinely surprised how excited this makes them, and I think they will be taking a fair proportion of them back to Haslemere, which is not good news for Ed, but good news for Lois and me as far as our downsizing project goes, to put it mildly!!!

Lois og jeg bruger formiddagen på at rydde op i huset, i forberedelse på besøget af vores ældste datter Alison, sammen med Ed og deres 3 børn, Josie (12), Rosalind (10) og Isaac (8), samt Sika, familiens danske hund.

12:00 Jeg får en sms på whatsapp fra Alison – der er kæmpe trafikpropper på M4-motorvejen, og de har besluttet at tage en omvej gennem mindre veje ude på landet. De forventer, at de ankommer kl 14 eller deromkring.

Lois og jeg spiser frokost på terrassen. Solen skinner for en gangs skyld, og det er ganske varmt.

14:00 Alison og hendes familie ankommer og de spiser frokost på terrassen.

16:00 De går en tur med Sika rundt omkring på den lokale fodboldbane.

18:00 Vi spiser aftensmad på terrassen. 

 Derefter går Lois, Alison og de tre børn ind i garagen, for at kigge igennem de sække propfyldte med bløde legetøj, som jeg for nogle dage siden samlet i loftet, som en del af vores nuværende downsize-miniprojekt.
