18:00 Lois and I eat dinner and spend the rest of an entertaining and relaxing evening watching a little television. They show an old episode of Top of the Pops from May 1983, which Lois and I never saw because we were living in the USA back then.

Our favorite song from the show: Wham's "Bad Boys". We note that the blonde sitting between George and Andrew in the sports car is looking at Andrew and not George. Maybe she knew what the rest of us at that time did not know - that George had a habit of driving "on the opposite side of the road" - oh dear, poor blonde !!!!!

The blonde was looking at Andrew, not George.
Did she know something we did not know back then ?????

In the middle of the show Sting, Stewart and Andy ( "The Police") popped into the Top of the Pops studio and were interviewed for a few minutes by the show's DJ, Simon Bates. The band's single, "Every Breath You Take" (their best-selling song ever) was coming out the following day.

20:30 We continue to watch TV. They show the latest episode of the Big Bang Theory - 10th (and final?) season, 15th episode.

Leonard, Howard and Sheldon are currently working on their project for the Air Force, and Sheldon is behaving annoyingly as usual, so Leonard decides to send Sheldon and Amy, Sheldon's girlfriend, on an "old steam train experience" weekend break. Sheldon brings the news to Amy in his own inimitable way ....

Sheldon brings the news to Amy in his
own inimitable way - my goodness!

The section showcases yet another film sequence involving Sheldon in some "sexy" behavior that in the end turns out to be one of Amy's fantasies - one of the show's recurring themes, which Lois and I always enjoy.

Sheldon's voice in the car jolts Amy out of her fantasy world
- my goodness, poor Amy !!!!!

Currently Lois and I are hearing a lot of hype and media coverage about the planned spin-off prequel series, "Young Sheldon". We think that the idea has a lot of potential, because the show's writers will have no need to portray Sheldon in a more "human" or sympathetic light, showing his emotions, etc. - an annoying aspect of the Big Bang Theory's recent seasons - oh dear!

But a lot depends on the young actor taking the leading role. And we hope the show does not rely too much on a sentimental or supposedly humorous voiceover which is actually not very humorous, like for example, "The Wonder Years," "The Goldbergs" or even "Scrubs". But Lois and me, we are so demanding ha ha ha!

22:00 We go to bed - zzzzzzz !!!!

04:30 I get up early and do one of my routine Danish vocabulary tests.

07:30 I toddle into the kitchen and make two cups of tea. I take them up to the bedroom and jump into bed with Lois. We drink the tea and get up. We eat breakfast.

10:00 We go out in the backyard to do a bit of weeding, me among the fruit bushes and Lois in the flowerbeds. It is very loud here in the garden again, because today is the climax of the annual four-day Gold Cup horse racing festival, and many spectators arrive nowadays by helicopter because of the terrible traffic jams.

After an hour and a half’s work, I imagine that I have enlarged a bit the little weed-free area between the gooseberry bushes, but I'm not quite sure when I look back on Tuesday's photo. I suspect that the weeds in one way or another have struck back (like the Empire in Star Wars Episode V - my goodness!).

at first glance, I think that I've succeeded in enlarging
a bit the little weed free area between the gooseberry bushes

But looking back at Tuesday's photo - damn!
I do not think that I have made any progress after all - damn (again)!

11:00 We come back into the house and relax with a cup of coffee on the sofa. I take a little look at the web. I have received an email from Lynda, who heads the U3A's "Making of English" group interested in the development of the English language. Currently, we are concentrating on works in Middle English.

Lynda says that the group's next meeting will take place on 7 April. The next book we are to study is Ancrene Wisse written early in the 13th century by a canon of the church: the book contained instructions and information for three women who wanted to become hermits. The book does not sound very exciting, but we’ll have to see.  A churchy book could be a bit of a relief after all the sex and violence we have recently experienced both in our other Middle English works and in our private lives - thank God for that!

a typical one-bedroom cottage for female hermits,
who tended to have big heads and short bodies.
I imagine that the canon who checked her in
was very glad to say 'goodnight, sleep tight' to her and
go back to his lovely canonical apartment - I have no doubts about that !!!

11:30 The postman, the lovely female one, delivers a letter to Lois from the local hospital. Finally, Lois has an appointment with the specialist who will examine her cataracts - hurrah! But unfortunately the appointment is for May 31, so she must still wait a little more time yet - damn!

13:45 Lois has to go to the local library to help library staff organize and lead the weekly "Baby Bounce and Rhyme" session for young mothers and their young children. The activities consist of nursery rhymes for babies and parents (and grandparents). When our second daughter, Sarah, still lived and worked in England (up till December 2015), Lois and I used to take Sarah's twins along to the sessions - happy days!

flashback to May 2014. We take Sarah's twins

15:00 I get up and Lois comes back from the library. We relax with a cup of tea and a piece of bread with homemade raspberry jam - yum yum! We finish the afternoon watching the Gold Cup horse race on television.
