Hvem ville have været den bedste???

English translation
18:00 We have dinner and spend the rest of the evening watching TV and listening to the radio - no surprise there!

20:00 The show Grand Designs is on with Kevin McCloud as the program host (as usual).

Tonight's episode is a little different from the usual. A young couple (two lawyers from Bristol) decide to renovate and modernize an old (400 year) farmhouse in the Cotswolds area. Fortunately, because of the building's historical value, there are many rules that the local municipality imposes, limiting the couple, so that they may not, for example, install huge modern windows or tear down too many interior walls - hurrah! But unfortunately most of the house's woodwork turns out to be rotten - oh dear!

But like many of the couples we see in this series, these two young lawyers are perfectionist and obsessed with fixed ideas and have no desire to compromise. The consequences are often that the project ends up being much more expensive than initially estimated. The original estimate was £ 70,000, but the whole project actually came to cost £ 300,000, and the couple are up to their ears in debt - my goodness! What madness!

21:00 We decide to hear an interesting radio program ("The Last Word"), because we want to be told if anyone has died in the past 2 weeks. It turns out that only 4 people died - hurrah, so do not panic!

My Goodness! Joao Havelange has died (at 100 years). He was the first FIFA president to realize that the job provides many chances to become filthy rich (billionaire). What a genius! His predecessor as president, the honest Englishman Sir Stanley Rous, thought because of a misunderstanding that it was about managing the world's football! Pass the sick-bag, Alice!

The American actor Gene Wilder, also died (at 83 years). In England, he is known mostly for his role as Willy Wonka in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". It is interesting to know that Roald Dahl originally wanted Spike Milligan in this role, also that Peter Sellers begged Dahl to be able to play it - my goodness! Who would have been the best ??? Now it's too late to judge- no doubt about it! They are all dead – oh dear!

For me, the saddest part of this list is the loss (at 94 years) of "Toots" Thielemans, the Belgian harmonica player who played on Theme from Midnight Cowboy, composed by John Barry. Theilemans's unforgettable harmonica melody is going to haunt me now and for the rest of my life.

So farewell then, "Toots" - that was your nickname......

22:00 We go to bed - zzzzz !!!!

05:00 I get up early and do one of my routine Danish vocabulary tests. Afterwards I hurry into the kitchen and make two cups of tea. I bring the tea up to our bedroom. We lie in bed and drink the tea. We get up and eat breakfast.

09:00 We go to the local Sainsbury's supermarket to shop. We get home and relax with a cup of coffee on the couch.

10:30 Lois bought a 40m long ball of string which we divide into two 20m pieces. We take one of the two pieces and pull it so it becomes tight. We measure a 20m distance from our neighbor's car, and Lois tries to read the license plate from 20m away. She finds out that she can read it only with difficulty - damn! On Tuesday, she has another appointment with Specsavers Optik. Her cataracts have grown, and the optician has unfortunately advised her not to drive if possible.

11:00 We go for a short walk in the neighborhood (1.1 miles). Midway unfortunately it starts raining, and Lois has hung clothes to dry out in the backyard, so we stop the walk and hurry home again - oh dear! Our route: Borgergade, Bowbridge Lane, Spring Lane and back again.

13:00 We eat lunch and then go to bed for a few hours. I read seven pages of my bedtime book, "1812: Napoleon's Fatal March on Moscow" by Adam Zamoyski. Lois reads 10 pages of her bedtime book, "Victoria R. I." by Elizabeth Longford.

16:00 We get up and relax with a cup of tea on the sofa.
