mere klar over forhistoriske samfund, religion osv. For mit vedkommende er det
modsatte sandt – forhistoriske folk bliver mere og mere mysteriøse samtidigt
med hver opdagelse. Uha!
normalt finde mig i køkkenet.
spiser morgenmad.
10:00 Min ven, ”Magyar” Mike kommer, for at lære ungarsk med mig. Vores
Stakkels Caro! Du var for god til ham –
det har jeg ikke nogen tvivl om !!!!!

”Caro”
YouTube-videoer over et glat jazz-groove.
Min gamle ven Mark
English translation
17:00 I hurry up to Sarah's old
room and jump up on my exercise bike. I ride 6 miles (10 km) - hurrah! Now I am
quite sure that I can get well again.
18:00 We have dinner, and then we
spend the evening watching TV. They show an interesting documentary (Part 3 of
3), which is about archaeological discoveries on the islands of Orkney, north
of Scotland.
Experts now believe that the
culture that 5000 years ago created Stonehenge and other ancient monuments in
Britain, actually started on the islands of Orkney, because the Orkney
monuments and buildings (stone circles and stone houses) are at least 500 years
older than the great monuments of contemporary England, such as Stonehenge.
In these kinds of documentaries,
they always comment that because of new archaeological discoveries we are
becoming more aware about prehistoric societies, religion and so on. For me,
the opposite is true - prehistoric people become more and more mysterious with
each discovery. Oh dear!
For one reason or another the
inhabitants left these islands about 4200 years ago after at least 1,000 years
of occupation. Before they left, they held a massive party - they slaughtered
hundreds of cows, which seems quite modern in a way. Perhaps the climate
deteriorated, but experts are not entirely sure. That's why history and archaeology
are so fascinating, I think. I would kill to be able to travel in time and be
at the party, even though I usually do not like parties, and you will usually
find me in the kitchen.
It was quite modern to hold a gigantic
party, almost as if they knew it was indeed the end of an era, which it
actually was - the Stone Age was coming to an end, and the Bronze Age was about
to begin. I suppose they all had bought tickets for it.
22:00 We go to bed - zzzzz !!!
05:00 I get up early and take a
look at the web.
07:30 I hurry into the kitchen
and make two cups of tea. I take them up to the bedroom and crawl back into
bed. We take a shower and get up. We eat breakfast.
10:00 My friend,
"Magyar" Mike comes to learn Hungarian with me. Our last
"Hungarian-hour" was at the beginning of December, so we are very
rusty. We decide to use a different textbook this year.
Mike is a nice man, but he tends
to talk only about himself and to not interest himself so much in other
people's news and so on. I ask him about his Christmas and New Year, and he
tells me all about his stay with his daughter and her family (the two
grandchildren) in Hertfordshire.
On the sly I put him to the test
by intentionally not saying anything about our Christmas and New Year, even
though we were in Copenhagen and also traveled to Sweden over the bridge. As
expected, he doesn't ask me any questions. My god, he is still the same!
11:00 Mike has to go. Lois and I
relax with a cup of coffee on the sofa.
I take a little look at the web.
I see that Rory McIlroy, the world famous Irish golf star, has
"explained" in a big interview with the Irish Independent newspaper
why 3 years ago he dumped his ex-girlfriend, Caroline Wozniacki, the Danish
tennis-darling, breaking the news to her in a telephone conversation, after the couple's wedding
invitations had already been sent out. "Caro" has said that after
this telephone conversation she did not hear from him again.
McIlroy says he suddenly became
aware that a relationship with another famous person was simply becoming too
much. He discovered that he could never free himself and return to the real
world. My God!
Maybe, but why did he choose to
terminate his engagement in a telephone conversation, and not a conversation
face to face? Poor Caro! You were too good for him - I have no doubts about
that !!!!!

December 31, 201313:00
We eat lunch and afterwards I go
to bed. I turn on the YouTube videos over a smooth jazz groove. I drift into
sleep and takes a gigantic nap - zzzzzz !!!
13:45 Lois has to go out. She has
an appointment with our dentist. The side of one of her teeth broke off the
other day, the poor thing!
15:00 Lois comes back. The
dentist has repaired the tooth.
I get up. I vacuum and dust all
over the house. My old friend Mark is coming tomorrow to help me connect my new
router and YouView+ TV-device.
16:00 We relax with a cup of tea
on the sofa.
