(igen)!

Venice i Italien.
Pokkers – stakkels Lois! Hun lider for tiden
i deres parforhold.

18:00 We have dinner and settle
down on the sofa. There is nothing interesting on TV so we decide to switch on
our Roku device, and sign in to the Google Play website to rent a movie,
"Café Society" by Woody Allen. This is something we have not done
before, so we feel quite modern - sad, right? I find out that I first need to
log into our computer to create a password. I worry about whether it will work,
but everything goes well - hurrah! We saw our daughter, Alison, rent a movie
like this, when we were in Copenhagen over Christmas and New Year, so we knew
it was possible - hurrah (again)!
The film, which came out in 2016
(hoorah!) is set in the 1930s, partly in New York and partly in California. As
always, the focus is on a young Woody Allen style character, played by Jesse
Eisenberg. The love of his life, whom he manages to dump, is played by Kristen
Stewart. It's all quite entertaining, and I spend only 5 minutes dozing a little
in the middle of the film.

21:00 We continue to watch TV.
They show a documentary (Part 2 of 3), which is about the city of Venice in
Italy. The program's host is the charming Alexander Armstrong.
I've never been
that interested in Venice, and I doze from time to time during the program.
Part of the program appears to focus on the systematic 3D scan of the entire
city. If the city is destroyed in the future, you will still be able to
"experience" it in virtual reality, but I'm not quite sure. Maybe
they say this only in my dream as I sit and doze on the sofa.
22:00 We go to bed - separate
beds again because of my cold. Zzzzzzzzz
!!!!!!
04:00 I get up and do one of my
routine Danish vocabulary tests. Afterwards I hurry into the kitchen and make
two cups of tea. I take them up to the bedroom and we jump into bed. We drink
the tea, take a shower, get up again and eat breakfast.
10:00 I begin to select the next
story I want our U3A Danish group members to read, a detective story with lots
of dead bodies - hurrah! The book is "Forbandet" by Gittemie Eriksen. I take the first 8 pages and begin to look the unusual
words up in my online dictionary.
I choose the next short story I want our Danish group members
to read. It has masses of dead bodies - hurrah!!!!
13:00 We eat lunch and afterwards
I go to bed and take a gigantic afternoon nap - zzzzz !!!
15:00 I get up. Lois has a call
from Gloucester Hospital. She finds out that her appointment with the eye
department specialist next week has been canceled because of the doctor's
illness. Damn - poor Lois! She is suffering from cataracts at the moment, and
she would like to have an eye examination as soon as possible. Now she must
wait for the hospital to arrange a new time later this month.
16:00 I look a little at the web.
I find Morten Ingemann's latest comic strip. The Dane Ingemann is my favorite
cartoonist - no doubt about it! He has many properties that are a must for me
and a big plus. He is very interested in ugly, overweight, middle-aged people,
the kind of people that most cartoonists rarely give attention to.
He has a real sense of human
nature and he often focuses on the difficult problems that ugly, overweight,
middle-aged people experience in their relationships.
I always especially love Ingemann’s
stories about my favorite priest, Pastor Horn, who is always so relaxed and
sensible. Today we see an ugly, middle-aged and overweight woman visiting the
priest. It is clear that she and her boyfriend are planning to hold their
upcoming wedding in Horn's church, and she asks the priest's views on couples having
sex before getting wed.
As I expected, Horn's opinion is
very fair and non-judgmental, which nowadays is so refreshing. In short, he
says that it would be fine with him as long as it does not delay the
ceremony. I wish there were more priests like Pastor Horn ... the world would
be a better place - I have no doubts about that !!!
