vores
Kiin) midt i København.

Vores rute: Dybegade,
Højgade, Bankgade, Møllegade og tilbage igen via Borgergade. Vi går forbi to

proklamerer,
at barbecuesæsonen er her –
lidt
for tidligt, synes vi !!!!
Terri plejede at

18:00 Lois and I eat dinner and
afterwards we talk a little on Skype with our daughter Alison, who lives in
Copenhagen along with Ed, her husband and their three children, Josie (10),
Rosalind (8) and Isaac (6) .
we talk a little on Skype with
Alison,
our elder daughter who lives in Copenhagen
It is a lot of fun to talk to her
about the family's life in Copenhagen. The family has just spent a fun holiday
in North Jutland. They stayed in a cottage at Hou, a small seaside resort near
the city of Aalborg and they visited Skagen on the northern tip of Jutland,
where the North Sea meets the Baltic Sea.
Ed, Alison's husband, is not
there when we talk to her. Tonight, representatives from a law firm have taken
him to a Thai restaurant in the middle of Copenhagen. Their firm hopes Ed's
company will choose them to look after its interests in some important business
negotiations. Poor representatives !!!!
Ed, Alison's husband, had to go
out this evening - poor Ed !!!!

21:00 We spend the rest of the
evening watching TV. An interesting program is on (Part 2 of 6), all about
Victoria Wood, the late stand-up comedian.
It is very nice to be reminded
about the late Victoria Wood's brilliant career as a stand-up comedian, but it
is also unfortunately sobering to remember that Victoria, like many television stars, came to believe
that she could also find success as both playwright and actress.
Success in one field does not
always lead to success in another field, such as for example, Victoria's
disastrous attempt to be successful in the soap opera world: "Acorn
Antiques", a miserable series that revolved around an antique shop in the
Manchester area.
The plots and scripts were weak,
the acting was pathetic. Many of the show's main characters met untimely deaths
when Victoria decided to dismiss the actors. Victoria herself played Miss
Berta, the store manager - here we see the unlikely death of Clifford, her business
colleague: he is electrocuted when he unplugs Miss Berta's defective iron.
The show featured a number of
unlikely deaths
mostly involving one or another of the
show's main characters
22:00 We go to bed - zzzzzz !!!!!
04:00 I get up early and do one
of my routine Danish vocabulary tests.temperature
08:15 I shuffle into the kitchen
and make two cups of tea. I take them up to the bedroom and crawl back under
the covers with Lois. We drink the tea and get up. We eat breakfast.
10:30 We go for a short walk in
the neighborhood (1 mile). Our itinerary: Dybegade, Højgade, Bankgade,
Møllegade and back again via Borgergade. We go past two old pubs: the Plough
and the Royal Oak and we see an old house on the corner of Møllegade and Borgergade
with flowering wisteria on the wall.
we pass an old house on the corner
of Møllegade and Borgergade
with flowering wisteria on the wall
we walk a little further and past
the Royal Oak pub that
proclaims that barbecue season is here - a
little too early, we think !!!!
12:00 We come home and work a
little in the backyard. I put several black bags down in my new weed-free areas
between the fruit bushes. I feel that the vegetable garden's weed population
has already this year become a bit depressed - hahaha !!! But it seems that the
weeds have the last word every year - I cannot understand why.
13:00 We have lunch and
afterwards I go to bed and take a gigantic afternoon nap - zzzzzz !!
15:00 I get up. We listen a
little to the radio, an interesting program that is about ventriloquist
dummies/dolls. The program's host is
the lugubrious Andrew Martin.
Lois and I thought in the past
that ventriloquist dummies were usually relatively passive, but that is a
misconception, says Martin, the programme's lugubrious host. Ventriloquists are
by nature sensitive, like many professional entertainers, and that is something
a strong-willed doll can exploit.
Some dolls are physically
threatening - in the 1930s, Arthur Prince's "Sailor Jim" -doll stood
5 foot high and was sometimes aggressive when he sat on Arthur's lap.
There are cases of dolls that
have turned on their owners, especially the female owners, such as Terri Rogers
in the 1970s. Terri used to say that she and her 3 foot high dummy,
"Shorty Harris", "did not get on well together." Shorty was
the more confident party in the duo, and Terri was convinced that the doll used
to intentionally sabotage her most important appearances.
And everyone in the UK can of
course remember Rod Hull's "Emu" -doll that attacked its owner
numerous times.
