for forhistorien. Hun kæmper for at klatre i canadiske bjerge, hun beder

English translation

18:00 We have dinner and spend the rest of the evening watching TV. They show an interesting documentary film "The Incredible Human Journey" (last part of 5), which is about how the Americas were populated. The program's host is the charming Alice Roberts.

An interesting program, though it takes a full hour to give us the current basic state of archaeologists’ theories today, ie that the first immigrants traveled along Canada's west coast (partly on small boats where necessary) during the last ice age (approximately 15000-14000 years ago) in order to reach the warmer regions.

They believed until recently that these population movements first appeared a little more recently, namely 13,500 years ago when a warmer corridor opened in the vast glacial landscape, which at the time covered Canada (the ice was up to 3 km deep – oh dear!).

But human remains and artifacts that have been found in California, Texas and South America, prove that there were people here about 1,000 years earlier than the formation of the warmer corridor. The result is that coastal theory is more plausible, they think.

It is interesting also that some of the earliest human remains look more like Australia's Aborigines than the Asian people who arrived a little later and in greater numbers.

It is a shame that there is lots of wasted time in this documentary, to make it more interesting for people who do not care about prehistory - my god! For example, we see Alice struggle to climb an ice-covered mountain in Canada, using modern equipment, so we can understand that it was too hard for the earliest immigrants - my god! We see her also talk to Indian chiefs to hear their theories too - my god (again), they know nothing, Alice! And she rides a bus in Rio de Janeiro, which is filled to bursting (to put it mildly !!!). Why? What madness !!!

Alice wasting lots of time for the benefit of viewers who are not interested in
prehistory. She struggles to climb the Canadian mountains, she asks
Indian chiefs for their personal theories (why?), and she rides a bus
in Rio de Janeiro, which is filled to bursting (to put it mildly !!!). Why???

Pass the sickbag, Alice !!

22:00 We go to bed - zzzzzz !!!!!

05:15 I get up early and do one of my routine Danish vocabulary tests. Afterwards I hurry into the kitchen and make two cups of tea. I bring them up to our bedroom and crawl back into our bed.

We drink the tea but we do not get up - hurrah! We have decided to stay lying under the covers until 8am today. Yesterday, when we spoke with Sarah, our daughter in Australia, and her 3-year-old twins, she said that she would like to talk to us again today at 9 am (UK Time), which is a little early. It was difficult yesterday to talk about her news, etc., because of the twins' presence. Lois and I really love to take nice long showers and we do not like to rush it - my god! But it's one of the joys of old age - I have no doubts about that !!!!

Sarah will not be able to see that we are not yet have dressed when we talk on the phone with her, and we can take a shower after the call, when there is no rush - hurrah!

Lois and I are typical "old crows" and like to plan everything. But once again, our planning comes to nothing, because when we call Sarah at 9am, there is no answer, and we have to leave a message. Damn! Later she sends us a text message. It seems that she could not talk to us because the family were taking part in an event in the city of Perth today, organized for the benefit of owners of 4 wheel drive vehicles.

Francis, Sarah's husband, is very into this kind of event, and he was taking part in a similar event yesterday when we had our Skype call with Sarah and the twins.

09:30 We take a leisurely shower - hurrah! - and eat breakfast.

10:30 We go for a short walk in the neighborhood (1 mile). Our route: Borgergade, Bowbridge Lane, Park Lane up to the racecourse's rear entrance and back again. Today is the last day of a 3-day racing festival, but it is still early and the day's activities have not started yet and the track looks very quiet and calm out into the bright sunshine.

The racecourse looks quiet and calm. Today's activities have not started yet.
Only a blimp in the sky indicates that a festival is underway.

11:45 We eat lunch and afterwards Lois must away. She wants to attend a church service taking place today in Tewkesbury. She will drive herself over to Maggie's house, and Maggie is to drive her to Tewkesbury by the A38. This avoids the traffic jams that block this side of town during racing festivals - hurrah!

13:00 I go to bed and take me a gigantic afternoon nap - zzzzzzz !!!!

15:00 I get up. Lois comes home at 3.30pm and we relax with a cup of tea on the sofa.
