i vejen.
Celia og Diana, to ældre kvindelige universitetprofessorer, beslutter at få
en ny serie, ”New Lives in the Wild”. Programmets vært er den charmerende Ben
Fogle.
helt simpelthen dag og nat i hinandens lommer!!
a1
Noelle (til venstre) og Moli, hendes partner. Hvorfor har parret forladt
civilisationen bag dem,
for
at leve i hinandens lommer dag og nat i Tanzanias fjerneste nationalpark?
Tjah!
Beats me!
sko !!!!
Lois siger, at hun
har været vågen siden kl 1. Du godeste! Stakkels Lois!
Australien, for 11 måneder siden.
Men hun savner sine tidligere
Unødvendigt at sige, at
Hun havde lige modtaget den her

bilen ind i byen. Vi kigger ind igen i Specsavers Optik men vi må vente endnu
30 minutter, inden personalet endelig finder brevet. Du godeste! Sikke dog
nogle inkompetente medarbejdere!!!
to bløde kanin sutteklude, vi købte i morges i Jojo Maman Bébé.
dansk kultur.
I Smiths boghandleren
Bagefter
kører vi lige hjem – hurra!
English translation
17:00 Specsavers Optik call Lois.
The optician confirms that he sent a letter to our medical clinic on September
18 - in the letter he wrote that he thought Lois's cataracts were bad enough to
need surgery, but he asked the doctor anyway to examine her in case there was
something else wrong.
Our medical clinic told Lois
yesterday that they did not receive the letter - but we are suspicious. The
optician suggested that we pop into Specsavers tomorrow and pick up a copy of
the letter, and show it in person to the clinic's staff. My goodness, what
madness !!!
18:00 We eat dinner and then Lois
must away. She wants to attend a Bible seminar, which is taking place tonight
in Brockworth. She is riding with her friends, Ken and Patricia.
I have a little time alone and I
spend the evening watching a little television. They show an old episode of
Grand Designs.
Celia and Diana, two elderly
female university professors, decide to build a large modern house in the
countryside in the county of Hertford. I look at the program, because I hope to
find out why people want to live in a huge house that is far too big for them,
but I become disappointed again. It is completely unclear why they need such a
huge residence. Perhaps the motivation is nothing more than self-importance!
The house is very ugly, and looks
like a horrible robot or giant insect with large protruding eyes. My goodness,
what a crazy world we live in !!!
The new house looks like a horrible robot
or giant insect
with big bulging eyes - what madness!
21:00 I continue to watch TV.
They show the second part of a new series, "New Lives in the Wild".
The program's host is the charming Ben Fogle.
Ben meets a young couple: Moli, a
charming, dedicated man from Scarborough in England, and his partner, Noelle,
an equally dedicated, dazzlingly beautiful young woman from California. He is
trying to understand why for the greater part of the year the couple live alone
with only each other for company day and night, in Tanzania's remotest national
park, in the absence of most of the benefits of modern civilization, surrounded
by some of the world's most beautiful but dangerous wild animals - My God! A
few times a year they work as safari guides, but mostly they live quite simply
day and night in each other's pockets !!
Noelle (left) and Moli, her partner. Why
has the pair left civilization behind them,
to live in each other's pockets day and night
in Tanzania's remote national park?
Well! Beats me! I do not understand !!!!
Why do the couple not move back
to California so Noelle can resume her previous lifestyle, driving around in
her Cadillac in her high-heeled shoes !!!!
22:00 Lois comes back again and I
go to bed - zzzz !!!!! Lois stays sitting in front of the television - she
needs to relax and unwind after the evening's stimulating Bible seminar. My
god, poor Lois !!!!!
04:00 I wake up (it's at 5 am
according to my body clock!). Lois says she has been awake since 1 o'clock. My
goodness! Poor Lois! These Bible seminars, she takes part in are too
stimulating - of that, I have no doubt! We stay lying there a while - the bed
is nice and warm and cozy under the electric blanket - mmmmm! At 5 am I get up,
so Lois can try to fall asleep again.
I take a little look at my
smartphone and I see that Sarah, our youngest daughter has sent me a text
message. Yesterday was her first day on the new job, her first permanent job as
an accountant since the family moved to Perth, Australia, 11 months ago. The
day went well and everybody at the new workplace is very friendly, she says.
But she misses her former work colleagues at Competitive Foods (Burger King /
Hungry Jack's / KFC). I answer that the first day at a new job is never easy!
Needless to say she now has loads of things to learn, but I remind her that
this job is permanent, so her new knowledge will not go to waste.
I take a little look on Facebook
and I see this charming picture of our oldest granddaughter in Copenhagen,
Josie (10 years). She had just received this sweet emoji pillow which our
daughter, Alison, ordered online. It was delivered to us, and we sent the
package over to Denmark. Josie is growing up quickly - no doubt about it !!!
Josie with her new emoji pillow - she is
growing up fast, no doubt about it !!!
08:00 Sarah calls us from
Australia. Francis, her husband, has received a check in British currency from
Britain's Treasury Department. Sarah will send me the check by mail and she
wants me to pay it into her British bank account.
She has now worked two full days
at the new job. It's more difficult than expected because her predecessor in
the post has been on sick leave and therefore has not been able to help her.
She had to do a little research on her own - my goodness, poor Sarah !!!!
8:30 I make two cups of tea for
Lois and me and bring them up to our bedroom. I creep back in our bed and we
drink the tea. Afterwards, we get up and eat breakfast.
10:30 Lois and I have to go out.
We go to the bus stop at the local library. We take a bus number "N"
into town and get off at Marks & Spencer's department store. We go along to
Specsavers Optik to pick up a copy of the letter that Lois's optician says he
sent by mail to our medical clinic. (Staff at the clinic say they never
received the letter, but Lois and I are suspicious!).
Unfortunately, the staff cannot
find the letter and Lois's optician is on leave until next week! My goodness -
we are very angry !!! They promise to call us when they find the letter. Damn - a wasted visit !!! But what can we
do?
11:30 We go to Cheese Locker and
buy bread and cheese. We look into Jojo Maman Bébé and we buy two super soft
bunny comforters for Sarah's 3-year-old twins. We take the bus back home. When
we get home, we find a message on our answering machine: the staff at Specsavers
have finally found the missing letter - damn !!! We decide to visit the store again in
the afternoon before they lose the letter again !!!
12:30 We eat lunch and afterwards
I go to bed and take a short afternoon nap - zzzzz !!!
13:45 I get up and we drive the
car into town. Again we are look in at Specsavers Optik but we have to wait
another 30 minutes before the staff finally find the letter. My Goodness! What
incompetent staff !!!
14:30 We go to the town's main
post office, which nowadays is housed in WH Smiths bookstore in the middle of
town. We would like to send to Sarah in Australia a package that contains the
two soft bunny comforters we bought this morning at Jojo Maman Bébé. But there
is a huge queue - damn! We decide to drive over to Bishops Cleeve and try out
the small post office over there instead.
While we are in WH Smiths, we
note a special promotion that the store is currently running. It revolves round the
Danish concept of "hygge". In the shop we see a display stand that
shows several books on "hygge" and other aspects of Danish culture.
In Smith's bookstore, we see a special
promotion
which the shop is running on
"hygge", a Danish concept, which is currently very much in vogue -
hurrah!
15:00 We drive over to Bishops
Cleeve and send off the package to Sarah in Australia. On the way home we pop
in at Blooms garden center and nursery.
We buy more tulip bulbs, to
replace the old ones which my late sister Kathy and her American husband,
Steve, gave us 20 years ago, after visiting Holland. The old tulips are now
mostly exhausted - oh dear! But for many years they brightened up our backyard
and our life - I have no doubt about that !!!!
We drink a cup of coffee and eat
a piece of coffee cake in the store's café - mmmm!
Afterwards we drive home -
hurrah!
