fjernsyn. De viser et gamle afsnit af ”Top of the Pops” fra august 1982. Dexy’s
Midnight Runners havde lige skudt til tops med deres sang, ”Come On Eileen”.

Baltimore. Lykkelige dage!!!

i
det 3. århundrede e.Kr
Programmets vært er den charmerende David Olusoga. Det er klart, at én af
Davids motivationer er at øge sorte briters selvværd. Han beskriver for
eksempel hvordan, da europæiske købmænd besøgte VestAfrika for at få fat i guld
planter har invaderet vores have fra naboernes have.

20:00 We continue to watch TV.
They show the latest (fourth) episode of the Big Bang Theory, the new series.
A fun episode again. And it's
nice to see Sheldon and Amy in bed together again, though Lois and I notice a
difference in Sheldon's usual sleeping body posture. He usually lies in peace
and quiet on his back like a corpse in a morgue, but on his first night with
Amy he talks in his sleep and moves constantly, and for example, at one point
kicks her completely out of the bed - my goodness, poor Amy !!!! She did not
sleep so well - no doubt about it! It is fortunate that "coitus" is
not on the agenda (or "order of the night"!) - what a relief!
Sheldon constantly moves, and talks in
his sleep to Dr Feynman,
the famous late physicist - oh dear!
21:00 We continue to watch TV.
They show an interesting documentary about the history of black people in
Britain. It is very refreshing to see a brand new topic that we have not seen
before. Lois and I see piles of documentaries and sometimes we are not quite
sure if we have seen a particular program or not, because the same themes crop
up again and again - my god, this is only one of old age's many problems!
It is interesting to hear that
there were many black soldiers who arrived in England with the Roman army. Ten
per cent of the population of the city of York, for example, was then black
people. Many of these black men started relationships with local women, and
they have descendants who still live in England, but after so many generations,
it is no longer visible today in their faces and skin etc, just in their DNA.
an African unveils a plaque celebrating
England's first black colony,
a group of Roman soldiers guarding England's
northern border (with Scotland).
The program's host is the
charming David Olusoga. It is clear that one of David's motivations is to
enhance the self-esteem of black British people. He describes, for example,
how, when European merchants visited West Africa to get hold of gold from the
local gold mines, they negotiated with the African leaders as equal parties.
David also describes the earliest examples of European merchants transporting
African slaves to the New World. But it is very interesting that for some
reason he does not explain that it was the Africans, who themselves sold these
slaves to the European merchants. Perhaps he will explain this next time, at
least I hope so !!!!
22:00 We go to bed –
zzzzzzz!!!!!!
04:30 I get up early and do one
of my routine Danish vocabulary tests. Afterwards I hurry into the kitchen and
make two cups of tea. I bring them up to our bedroom and crawl back into our
bed. We drink the tea, get up and eat breakfast.
10:00 We go out in the backyard
and weed a bit around the greenhouse, where huge ugly plants have invaded our
garden from the neighbors' garden. It's like a scene from the horror movie
"Day of the Triffids" - my goodness, a real nightmare !!!
13:00 We eat lunch and then I go
to bed and take a gigantic afternoon nap while Lois starts to iron her clothes.
15:30 I get up and we relax with
a cup of tea on the sofa.
