English translation

18:15 We arrive at Andy and Angie's house in Twyning, a small village located near Tewkesbury.

Twyning, a small village located not far from Tewkesbury.

They have invited us and about 25 other people to a barbecue in their backyard. We are dead-lucky to have the sun shining for once - my goodness!

Our friends Angie and Andy

Angie, Andy along with their family

I'm a little nervous when I arrive because I do not care much for parties, and I'm afraid that I may get involved in group conversations with a lot of childish banter, the kind of conversations I do not find at all entertaining or amusing - My goodness, I'm just a sourpuss, as always! But actually, fortunately, I have no problem in finding interesting people that I can talk with one-to-one in a sensible way but also with genuine, intelligent humor and finesse - hurrah, that, I must say, is indeed a surprise! My Goodness!

21:00 It is becoming too cold in Andy and Angie's back yard. Some guests begin to cover themselves with blankets, but Lois and I decide to go home.

22:30 We go to bed - zzzzz !!!!

06:00 I get up early and do one of my routine Danish vocabulary tests.

08:00 I hurry into the kitchen and I make two cups of tea. I bring them up to our bedroom. We lie in bed and drink tea. Afterwards, we get up and eat breakfast.

9:30 We speak a little on phone with Sarah, our younger daughter, who lives in Perth, Australia, with Francis, her husband and their 3-year-old twins. The family has over the last three days moved into a new house in Yanchep, a small suburb of Perth. While we are talking with her, she is riding in the car to a real estate agent to give back the keys to the family's former house, located in Iluka, another suburb of Perth.

The new house is bigger than the old, and there is a nice view of the coast.

The house has three levels. Sarah and Francis sleep on the first floor, and their 3-year-old twins sleep on the ground floor. They also have a nice playroom in the basement. We have agreed to talk to Sarah again this weekend on Skype, and she will be able to show us the whole house.

10:30 We drive over to Evesham because Bob and Margaret, our friends have invited us to lunch. It is very nostalgic to see Evesham again, the town where Sarah and her family lived before they moved to Australia 9 months ago. We discover again how much we miss them - my goodness!

14:00 We go home and go to bed for a few hours.

16:00 I read seven pages of my bedtime book, "1812: Napoleon's Fatal March on Moscow" by Adam Zamoyski. Afterwards, we get up and relax with a cup of tea on the sofa.
