Bob Kylie,
system (1970’erne) og New Yorks system (i 1980’erne).
”Morning Star”, partiets avis.
verden, siger man!
22:00 Vi går i
seng – zzzzz!!!!!
English translation
18:00 We have dinner and afterwards we spend the rest of
the evening watching TV and listening to the radio. I have heard that the
Olympic Games in Rio is almost over, so I decide to see for the first time one
of the competitions in Rio. It's almost my last chance! I choose Denmark
against France men's handball final. Very exciting, because France is the clear
favorite to win because they won last time, and
Denmark’s team has never won anything in the Olympics. I have never seen
a handball match before, so it is interesting to try to guess the rules.
The Danish team actually wins by a small margin (28-26),
and the team is very happy about it - I know that for sure!
the Danish team explodes in celebration
after their victory over France
Denmark has actually completed a successful Olympics in
Rio. The Danish participants had better results than the other Nordic
countries. And Denmark is the most successful European country, if one divides
the total number of medals for Denmark by the country's inhabitants. It is the
country's best performance since London in 1948. The Norwegian team has not had
a good Olympics, and the Norwegian press has expressed some jealousy over the
Danish results - my goodness!
Denmark has just completed a successful
Olympics in Rio
20:30 We turn off the TV and listen to some radio: “The
Last Word”, an interesting program that is about the latest obituaries - my goodness!
Yes, more people have died in the past two weeks, it seems. When will it end?
Bob Kylie, American transport expert, is dead (at 80
years). About 15 years ago he was employed by the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, to
end traffic jams and the general paralysis in the streets. He decided to
introduce a form of congestion charge that was very successful. Congestion
charging is found in Stockholm and a few Norwegian cities, but not in Denmark,
so far as I know. Kylie also succeeded in saving London's public transport
system. He had already rescued Boston's system (1970) and New York's system (in
the 1980s). The strangest thing is that earlier in his life he worked for the
CIA in the United States.
Tony Chater is also dead (at 86 years). I've never heard
of him, but he became a member of the British Communist Party when he was in
high school, and later became editor of "Morning Star", the party
newspaper. It's hard to understand how anyone would decide to become a
Communist, but it takes all kinds to make a world, they say!
22:00 We go to bed – zzzzz!!!!!
06:00 I get up early and do one of my routine Danish
vocabulary tests. I make two cups of tea and bring them up to our bedroom. We
lie in bed and drink the tea.
08:30 We get up and eat breakfast.
12:00 We eat lunch and then I go to bed and take a long
afternoon nap while Lois goes for a short walk in the neighborhood.
15:00 I get up and we relax with a cup of tea on the
sofa.
