English translation
18:00 We have dinner and then we see a little television. They show Grand Designs, a television series, where mostly neurotic men (and their partners) design, and have built, huge ugly houses with huge rooms, uncomfortable sofas, huge heavy dining tables and huge windows without curtains or blinds. They are mostly people with no real hobbies, people who love to hold dinner parties and stand and look all day at the beautiful views.

A young couple, Nigel and Lysette, live in an old converted 'boathouse', situated beside the River Thames in Oxfordshire. They decide that they will tear this house down and get built a very modern house that does not fit with the other houses in the area. The neighbors oppose the couple's plans, but Nigel and Lysette do not respect their neighbors' opinions and are determined to complete the project.

Nigel, who resembles the famous actor Richard O'Sullivan, and Nigel's partner, Lysette, a very headstrong woman, are sadly thinking only about their own interests.

The couple think only about their own interests - oh dear!

The project takes much longer than anticipated and costs £ 1.2 million. The resulting house is very unpopular in the neighborhood. It is far bigger than the couple need, and there is lots of wasted space in the huge living room, which will be very expensive to heat.

The new house is very unpopular in the neighborhood - that I know for sure!

There is lots of wasted space in the living room, and it will be very expensive to heat, of that, I am in no doubt !!!!

Needless to say that the neighbors are furious with them but cannot do anything about it - my goodness! Such goings-on!

22:00 We go to bed - zzzzz !!!!

5:00 I get up early and do one of my routine Danish vocabulary tests. Now that I have begun to read my Danish novel "Klinkevals" again, I have even more words, that I must learn - oh dear!

07:45 I hurry into the kitchen and make two cups of tea. I bring them up to our bedroom. We lie in bed and drink the tea. We take a shower and afterwards we eat breakfast.

10:15 We speak a little on Skype with Sarah, who lives in Perth, Australia, along with Francis, her husband and their 3-year-old twins, Lily and Jessica. At the start of the call the twins have not finished taking their afternoon nap, but after 10 minutes they wake up and talk to us even if they are still very sleepy.

We speak with Sarah, also with Jessica and Lily, who have just woken up after their afternoon nap

Sarah says that the whole family likes the new house. It is much bigger and it is easier for each family member to have its own space.

Sarah picks up the laptop and gives us a tour of the house. We see the basement where the family dog, Buddy, lives. Buddy is forbidden to come up the stairs to the living room, which is very good because Francis does not need to vacuum every day in the living room. Sarah shows us the whole house and also the backyard, where the twins can play. The house has sweeping views of the coast.

Sarah says that the company where she works (Hungry Jack's / Burger King / KFC) has offered her a job at its Australian subsidiary's head office, which is located in Sydney. But she is thinking of rejecting the offer, because it is much more expensive to rent a house in Sydney than in Perth, but wage levels are the same.

10:45 Lois has to be off. There are two church services, which are taking place today in Tewkesbury, which she wants to participate in. I have a little time alone again. I begin to iron my shirts and underwear.

13:00 I eat lunch and then begin to vacuum everywhere in the house.

14:30 I go to bed and take a giant afternoon-nap - zzzzzz !!!

16:00 Lois comes back and we relax with a cup of tea on the sofa.
