17:00 Vi går en kort tur i nabolaget (1,2 miles, 30 minutter, 116
kalorier). Vores rute: Borgergade, Møllegade og tilbage igen via Højgade og
Dybegade.
Maggie.

af ”Just 4 Fun”.
Mine minder
uger i 1991 besøgte os i Cheltenham.

Alison
siger, at træerne ligner de træer man ser på julekager – du godeste! Familien
kogte sig også nogle stykker brød over ild – hurra! Det er dejligt at se disse
charmerende fotos.

sofaen – uhm!!!

17:00 We go for a short walk in the neighborhood (1.2 miles, 30 minutes,

Deep Street. It is getting dark and a little cold. The horses in the large
field between Møllegade and Borgergade have their coats on - brrrrr!

19:30 Lois has to be off. Her church is holding a Bible class tonight at
Maggie's. I am alone in the house again. There is nothing interesting on TV, so
I continue to copy my old VHS tapes to DVD.
It is now 1991. I find on my vhs tapes many songs from the year's
Eurovision Song Contest, which took place in Rome. The euphoria that came from
the fall of the Berlin Wall had now disappeared: there were far fewer songs in
the competition that dealt with peace and international harmony, thank
goodness! And there was then more and more tension in Yugoslavia, although the
civil war had not yet begun. 1991 was the last year that the former Yugoslavia
participated in the competition as one country. My Goodness!
During this period, most songs were interpreted in the singer's native
language, while most songs nowadays are sung in English - what a shame!
I hear again tonight the Danish song, "Right there where the heart
beats", interpreted by Anders Fransen. The song was pleasant, but nothing
more, in my opinion, the Swedish song too, but the Swedish song ended up
actually winning the competition, to my surprise. Among the Nordic songs I
liked best the Norwegian song and the Finnish song. The Norwegian song was "Mrs.
Thompson", interpreted by "Just for Fun", a quartet group. The
Finnish song was "Hullu yö", it means "Crazy Night" and was
interpreted by Kaija Kärkinen.
The Norwegian song, "Mrs. Thompson"
was interpreted by "Just 4 Fun".
My memories of 1991 are very few for one reason or another. I know that
both Alison and Sarah had German exchange partners from a high school in Bad
Kreuznach, who visited us in Cheltenham for a few weeks in 1991.

03:15 I get up early and take a look on the web. I see that our oldest daughter, Alison, who lives in Copenhagen along with Ed, her husband and their 3 children are enjoying themselves a lot skiing in Norway. Yesterday the family drove with sled dogs (they had to steer, brake the dogs etc!) - My goodness, how exciting! Alison says that the trees look like the trees one sees on Christmas cakes - my goodness! The family cooked up some pieces of bread over the fire - hurray! It's great to see these charming photos. We have not had one drop of snow here in Cheltenham all winter!

14:00 After lunch, our friend Gillian who regularly tunes our piano, comes.
We ask her if it is possible to install larger castors on our piano to make the
piano a little higher (3 English inches higher, to be precise), there is
currently no room for my knees under the keyboard - my goodness! Currently I
have a problem because I'm a little too tall and I have difficulty using the
piano pedals (soft pedal and loud pedal). But according to Gillian unfortunately,
there is no easy solution - damn!
15:00 I go to bed and take me a short nap - zzzzz !!!
16:00 I get up and we relax with a cup of tea and a slice of cake on the
couch - uhm !!!
