Vi glider over i søvnen – zzzzz!

Jeg spiser to stykke toast og tager to Ibuprofen tabletter.

17:00 I'm looking at Facebook and I see that our eldest granddaughter in Copenhagen, Josie, together with her team have just won the swimming relay in Gladsaxe-swimming pool - hurrah! Our son-in-law, Ed, says that Josie's role was a crucial element in the team's victory - hurrah, go Josie!

18:00 We have dinner and then spend the evening watching TV and listening to the radio.

They show two interesting documentaries on BBC4. The first is about a trip through the south of France, which a married couple, Timothy West and Prunella Scales, the famous actors, take on the famous Canal du Midi by barge. This canal was the world's first (and was built almost a century before the first canals in the UK). The French authorities wanted to get boats and small ships to travel between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic without being attacked by the pirates who lived in the Straits of Gibraltar - my goodness, what a world!

The second documentary is about the villages in the county of Aberdeenshire, in north-west Scotland. The program's presenter is Penelope Keith, the famous actress.

21:00 They show the 5th and 6th episodes of "Trapped", the dark Scandinavian crime series, but Lois does not care for it that much, so I record it on vhs, and we listen to the radio instead; old comedies from the 1990s. We drift into sleep - zzzz! We are growing old - of that, there is no doubt !!!

22:00 We wake up and go to bed - zzzz (again) !!!

4:00 I get up early and take a look at the internet. I see that Sarah, our youngest daughter, Francis, her husband, and their 2 and a half year old twins, continue their road trip along the coast north of Perth. They drove through the desert to the city of Denham (population of 607 residents!), located in Shark Bay (Shark Bay) - my goodness! Be careful when you swim in the ocean, folks !!!!

view from the campsite where Sarah is staying

06:00 I have a painful lower back today - darn! I eat two pieces of toast and take two ibuprofen tablets.

8:00 I eat breakfast and start seeing the 5th episode of "Trapped", the dark Scandinavian crime fiction series. The drama is even darker than normal because the avalanche has caused a power outage in the isolated Icelandic town - oh dear! It is even harder to identify the characters and distinguish all the men who wear beards - my goodness! Also the residents' mobile phones no longer work - bummer (again) ! Sigurdhur's father, who intentionally used an explosion to create an avalanche in a controlled manner, dies of injuries from it! Oh dear!

Sigurdhurs father, dies of injuries from the avalanche he started - oh dear!

Someone (perhaps his wife, whom he abuses) hits Mayor Hrofn in the head with a shovel, locks him in his shed, and sets fire to it.

Clannnnggggg !!! Someone hits Mayor Hrofn in the head with a shovel in his shed while he works at his desk !!!! But who is the attacker - his wife maybe ????

the mysterious attacker sets fire to the mayor's shed - oh dear!!!! Farewell and good-luck, Mr. Mayor !!!

The town's teenagers hold a wild party in the public swimming pool.

city teenagers hold a wild party in the dark swimming pool - such goings-on!

The ferry's Danish captain and his first officer try to recapture the two African sisters whom the deceased Lithuanian people-smuggler, Jonas, brought to Iceland on his van's back seat - oh dear! What a mess !!!!

It is interesting to see that the Icelandic people for the most part do not look very much like the typical Scandinavian people you see in Norway, Sweden and Denmark. In many cases, they are not very tall and they tend to be more dark-haired. I have read that they have a lot of Celtic blood in their family trees. The Vikings had the habit of kidnapping Celtic women and bringing them to Iceland - oh, poor women !!!!

09:00 Lois gets up, but she has a problem with her sight - a striped spot in front of her eyes. She sits on the sofa and tries to relax. The problem disappears after 30 minutes, but she decides that it would be dangerous to drive to Tewkesbury today to attend her church's two services. She decides to see her Pride & Prejudice DVD instead - a wise decision!

My goodness, we are two old wrecks today - there is no doubt !!!!

13:00 We eat lunch and then I go to bed and take a long nap - zzzzz !!!!!

15:00 I get up and we relax with a cup of tea on the sofa.

16:00 I read some pages of my Danish novel, "Klinkevals". Simon has been released from the local mental hospital, where he lived for some years, and he is starting to get used to living at home again. He deals with the chores while his wife, Juliane, goes out to work every day. It's Juliane who calls the shots in this marriage - of that, there is no doubt !!!! Today Simon is visited by his former boss, "Thomsen", who urges him to resume his job at the printing works.
