18:00 While we eat dinner, we also see a little television: an episode of Come Dine with Me from East London (Shoreditch). One of the four competitors hails from Bermuda. It is interesting to hear the Bermudan accent that sounds (if this young martial arts teacher is typical!) like a mixture of American and Scottish.

We see an episode of "Come Dine with Me" from East London (Shoreditch). One of the four competitors is a martial arts teacher, and comes from Bermuda - my goodness, what a crazy world we live in!

After that there's nothing interesting on TV so Lois spends the evening doing a little research into her family tree. She manages to find out where her mother lived in 1939 - hurrah!

I begin to write a list of 50 English words, which I will get my old friend "Magyar" Mike to translate into Hungarian tomorrow morning when we meet to study Hungarian together. I am so demanding - ha-ha ha!

Mike and I usually meet on Tuesdays, but this morning Mike had an appointment at his doctor’s. He suffers from a form of diabetes, and has to check on his blood sugar level very frequently - oh dear, poor Mike! He is mostly a very healthy man – of that, I am in no doubt! But 2 weeks ago Mike unfortunately had a fall in the street and was bleeding from a gash to his head. He was sent to Gloucester Hospital, where he was examined for 4 hours. He has now recovered.

22:00 We go to bed - zzzzz !!!!

3:45 I get up early and take a look at the internet. I see that Lars Løkke Rasmussen, the Danish Prime Minister, is having difficulties currently with holding his coalition together. The climate is "icy cold" in the "blue block". Come on Løkke! Do not give up! Your blue block is Denmark's future - I know that for sure !!!!

June 2015: flashback to Løkke in happier times. He is preparing to meet Lois, Alison (our daughter) and me for the first time in the middle of Copenhagen during his election campaign.

10:00 My friend, "Magyar Mike" comes and we study Hungarian for an hour.

11:00 Mike has to be away. Lois and I go into the village and take a look into the local post office to send a package off to Sarah, our youngest daughter, who 3 months ago moved to Australia with Francis, her husband, and their 2 and a half year old twins, Lily and Jessica. We are sending Sarah special insoles she ordered from Regency Clinic while she still lived in England. She will be very glad to receive them after so long - of that, I am in no doubt! My Goodness! What poor service she has received at this clinic !!!

Then we pop into Waghornes, the local butcher, to buy meat and cheese. We come home via Møllegade and Borgergade. The sun is shining and we feel that spring is on the way - hurrah!

12:30 We eat lunch and afterwards I go to bed. I take a long nap - zzzz !!!!

14:00 I get up and take a look at the web. My American-in-law, Steve, has sent me an interesting article about some of the myths surrounding the Vikings. It is now known that the Vikings never wore horned helmets, for example.

But nowadays many experts say also that the word "viking" originally referred to an activity (to behave like a pirate or plunderer), rather than to a person - my goodness! But this article's author denies that it was a myth after all. She found several examples in Anglo-Saxon and Swedish texts where the word "Vikings" refers to people. Thank God! I do not like it if too much of the history we learned in school, is described as myths!

15:30 Lois and I talk a little about what we should do with our large garden, and our 4 lawns when we are on holiday in Australia for a few months. We would like to get a gardener to come once a week to mow the lawn and do a little weeding in the flower beds and vegetable gardens. When we walked along Borgergade this morning, we saw a "Top Gardeners" van, parked outside a house on the street. If they call themselves "top gardeners", they must be very good at their job - that, we do not doubt !!! We will try to find out if Top Gardeners can take care of our garden when we are away from home.

16:00 We relax with a cup of tea on the sofa.
