18:00 After dinner Lois must be off. Her church is holding a business meeting tonight in Tewkesbury, which she wants to participate in. She is riding with our friends, Alf and Mari-Anne.

I have a little alone-time tonight, so I begin to watch the fourth episode of the dark Scandinavian crime fiction series, "Trapped", on BBC iPlayer.

We discover that the residents of this "quiet" little Icelandic seaport are hiding even more dirty secrets - ugh! I try to understand the plot, but I tend to confuse many characters who resemble each other physically - oh, my goodness! I am getting old - that is both certain and sure!!!

The town's 3 police officers under pressure!

I think for example that the deputy harbor master's wife, who is the local school principal (?), is the mayor's mistress. We see her also have sex with the school's young caretaker in one of the offices of the local sports center, where the ferry's passengers are staying until the police investigation is over.

The city's only policewoman, Hinrika, is married to Barthur, a local fisherman (?). It seems that Barthur takes drugs, and perhaps sometimes has sex with one of the two African girls whom Hinrika and local police rescued from the deceased Lithuanian people-smuggler, Jonas. My Goodness!

The captain and the first officer of the Danish ferry, which the police have forbidden to leave the port, is involved in something illegal, perhaps smuggling.

Important police files have disappeared from the police station - perhaps when the current mayor was the city's police chief a few years ago .

My Goodness! What a mess !!!!

At the end of this 4th episode a new giant avalanche threatens to bury Andri, the city's police chief, Sigurdhur, the city's deputy harbor master, and Sigurdhurs father, and perhaps the rest of the city too. My Goodness! Sodom and Gomorrah all over again!!!

21:00 Lois's cousin, Brian, calls from Bournemouth. He says Priscilla, his sister-in-law sadly died last week. She had a terminal illness. Poor Ruth, Brian's wife, has lost her little sister.

22:00 Lois comes home and we go to bed. She is very tired, so I decide to postpone telling her Brian's sad news until tomorrow.

03:45 I get up early and take a look at the web. There is a lot happening in Gentofte, a northern suburb of Copenhagen, where Alison, our oldest daughter lives. I see that Bernstorffs Park, located not far from Alison's house, will soon get new rules for dogs off the leash - oh dear! The reason is that there are problems with dogs that are a nuisance to fairs, parties and conferences at Bernstorff Castle or the other users of the park, for example at the new school gardens by the nursery. Today you may have your dog off the leash in an area equivalent to 96 percent of the park's total area. With the new changes this will be reduced to 83 percent of the area.
According to the Palaces and Culture Agency, there have been more users of Bernstorffs Park in recent years, and there are more activities at Kavalergården and the castle. This is not always compatible with dogs off the leash. For example, wedding guests have experienced loose dogs jumping up at them during photographic sessions, there have been loose dogs that have strayed into the kitchen of the castle, and when the statue-lawn in front of the castle gets used by guests at, e.g. the summer ballet, they find it is full of dog crap.

Oh, what a mess! And I hope that the local dogs understand the new rules well - that is both certain and sure !!!!

In the red areas dogs may not come at all, and they must be on a leash in the yellow area.

The yellow line marks the area in which you have to have your dog on a leash under the new proposal from the Palaces and Culture Agency.

August 2015: Flashback to Bernstorffs Park in happier times.
We take Alison's dog, Sika, for a walk in the park.

I also see that Susanne Elmark, the Danish opera-darling, is giving a concert in four days in Hellerup Church, located not far from Alison's house. Come on, Susanne! You have mostly sung abroad during your long career. It is time to give something back to the Danes - of that I am in no doubt !!!

Susanne Elmark, the Danish operatic darling, is going to sing in Hellerup Kirke - hurrah!

10:00 Our Danish group's next meeting will take place this afternoon at our place, so I input into my computer Powerpoint software 100 English phrases that I want group members to translate into Danish - I'm so demanding, ha ha ha!

I also write a short text in Danish, about my experiences with Spark Energy, the company that owes us £700. Lois writes about our upcoming vacation in Rutland.

12:00 We eat lunch and afterwards I go to bed. I take a long nap - zzzzz !!!!

14:00 I get up and prepare for our Danish group meeting.

14:30 Our group members come and we study Danish for an hour and a half. We are seven in all - Joe, Joy, Scilla, Diane, Lois and I, and Jeanette, our Danish friend. We have a lot of fun.

16:00 The group members have to go. Lois and I relax with a cup of tea on the sofa.
