You Keep Me Hanging On – Kim Wilde
You’re In The Army Now – Status Quo
If It Wasn’t For The Night – Abba
Thank You For The Music – Abba (på Larry Grayson Show)
The Final Countdown – Europe
Showing Out – Mel and Kim
French Kissing in the USA - Debby Harry
Step Right Up – Jakki Graham (live på The Tube)
Spirit in the Sky – Doctor and the Medics (live på The Tube(?))
Boy in the Bubble – Paul Simon

English translation
17:00 I get an email from my sister Gill, who lives in Cambridge with her disabled husband Peter and her disabled daughter, Lucy. Gill says that the family has had a very good Christmas, and her other two daughters, Zoe and Mary, also stayed with them for some days. Peter has recently had problems with his head muscles and neck muscles, but Gill was pleased that Peter could without difficulty sit at the dining table and enjoy the Christmas meal with Gill and their three daughters.

Gill says Zoe, her eldest daughter, looked relaxed and much less stressful over Christmas season and New Year because she was finally finished with obtaining her doctorate at Manchester University - hurray!

18:00 Lois and I eat dinner and then spend the evening on watchng TV. They show an old sitcom from 1981, "Sorry", starring Ronnie Corbett. Tonight we see the series' first episode ever. The series is about a 41-year-old librarian Timothy Lumsden, who still lives at home with his demanding mother and relaxed father. Timothy's mother wants that Timothy will forever live at home and she always tries to prevent him from finding a girlfriend.

I remember well this series, Lois and I always looked at it when it was originally more than 30 years ago broadcast on BBC-TV. I thought at the time that Timothy's mother seemed a little like my own mother. It is for sure that my mother had a hard time accepting that her children would grow up and leave home, and this was a particular problem for my sister Gill, who was our mother's youngest child - my goodness!

20:00 Then we see University Challenge and Only Connect, two of the few television programs that are not suitable for stupid people - ha ha ha!

We decide not to see yet another documentary about "Immortal Egypt". We are fed up with ancient Egypt - I am in no doubt! Lois and I are nowadays more and more decadent and irresponsible - I know for sure !!!

22:00 We go to bed. I read seven pages of my bedtime-book, "William Pitt the Younger" by William Pitt, and then drift into sleep - zzzzz !!!!!!

4:15 I get up early and take a look at the internet. I see that our son-in-law, Ed, who lives and works in Copenhagen, this morning has to go to London on business. My goodness - the year is just beginning and he is already traveling! What a busy schedule he has!

I continue to experiment with dubbing to DVD some of the songs I recorded on my second VHS tape ever in 1986. This second VHS tape I called at that time "Vroom 2". I was yesterday finished with dubbing to DVD songs on my first VHS tape, called "Vroom 1". I will now start dubbing the songs on "Vroom 2", but I see that we are still in 1986, when it comes to Vroom 2. What a shame - I'm now sick of 1986. Oh dear!

I am not dubbing all the songs I recorded in 1986. I'm just dubbing the songs I still like! So far, the Vroom 2 I have found:
You Keep Me Hanging On - Kim Wilde
You're In The Army Now - Status Quo
If It Was not For The Night - Abba
Thank You For The Music - Abba (on Larry Grayson Show)
The Final Countdown - Europe
Showing Out - Mel and Kim
French Kissing in the USA - Debby Harry
Step Right Up - Jakki Graham (Live on The Tube)
Spirit in the Sky - Doctor and the Medics (live on The Tube (?))
Boy in the Bubble - Paul Simon

What a weird mix again - my goodness! I must admit that these songs are mostly typical of songs in 1986, but when will the year end, so we can hear some 1,987 songs for afvikslingens sake! This is a nightmare!

But there is light at the end of the tunnel. I find midway on the tape Rowan Atkinson, who is now famous worldwide for his role as "Mr Bean", starting to sing a song that Howard Goodall, the son of my mother's friend Geoff Goodall wrote in the 1980s. The song is called "I Like Trucking" and we heard it first in the popular sketch show, "Not The Nine O'Clock News", starring Atkinson, along with Mel Smith, Griff Rhys-Jones and Pamela Stephenson.

08:30 Apollo Accident Repair Centre phones me. They say that it will take about 10 days to repair our Honda Jazz - my goodness! And the damage to the car was barely visible - oh! It is fortunate that we have our almost-brand-new Renault Clio, we can drive in, if necessary - that's lucky!

(yesterday's photo) Allah is merciful - we can use Enterprise Rent-a-Cars-new Renault Clio. In the background, we see Sarah's and Francis's Saab, which they left here, when in December they moved to Australia, and our Honda Jazz, which recently was involved in a minor accident – oh dear!

11:30 We go off to Waghornes, the local butcher, to buy bacon and haslet. Then we go for a short walk in the neighborhood (1.8 miles, 47 minutes, 172 calories). Our itinerary: Højgade, Noverton Lane, Møllegade and back again via Deep Street and Prestburyvej.

we do a short walk in the neighborhood

the winter has so far been so mild. Goodness, January 5th and already we see not only snowdrops but also daffodils. There is something wrong with the weather – I know that with certainty!

there is plenty of water in the local creek - that's quite clear!

13:00 We get home and eat lunch. Then I go to bed and take a long nap - zzzz !!!!

15:30 I get up and take a shower. Then we relax with a cup of tea on the sofa.
