Jeg mindes Paul Simons udødelige ord i “Bookends/Old Friends”: ”Can you imagine us years from today, sharing a park bench quietly?

18:00 We have dinner and then we spend the evening on watching TV. They show another episode of the first series of "Sorry", an old sitcom from 1981, starring Ronnie Corbett, the Scottish comedian. The series is about a 41-year-old librarian Timothy Lumsden, who still lives at home with his demanding mother and relaxed father.

20:00 Then we see University Challenge and Only Connect, two of the few television programs that are not suitable for stupid people - ha ha ha!

22:00 We go to bed - zzzzz !!!

03:45 I get up early and take a look on the internet.

04:00 I continue to work on the documents relating to the sale of Sarah's old apartment in Cheltenham. My Goodness! Sarah is our youngest daughter, and she moved six weeks ago to Australia. I get an email from Sarah. Her legal representatives in England have told her that she must first get her identity verified (using her passport, driving license, etc.) in an Australian post office - my goodness! Her representatives in England must strictly speaking not start working on the sale until they have received the documents to verify her identity - my goodness! What a crazy world we live in !!

09:00 I get another message from Sarah. She says she has obtained the documents she needs to have her identity verified, and she has sent them to us by post. She believes that we should receive them in 2-4 days - hurray!

10:00 My friend, "Magyar" Mike rings at the door. We study Hungarian for one hour and talk about what we were doing over Christmas and New Year.

10:20 Lois has to go. She is driving with her girlfriends, Gillian and Mary, to Birmingham to visit Gillian's mother and other elderly ladies, who in the past were members of their church in Cheltenham. They will come back late in the afternoon.

11:15 Mike has to go. I continue to dub my old VHS tapes to DVD. We are now in 1987. It's a bit of a shock to see Jimmy Savile, the late DJ, in a BBC music program originally broadcast in 1967. Jimmy Savile committed many crimes against underage girls, but was never prosecuted. BBC-TV no longer show any of the programs that Savile starred in.

Jimmy Savile (center of picture) looks quite devilish. On Savile's right hand stands Pete Murray and his left hand, Alan Freeman (2 other DJs)

12:00 I rush into the kitchen and make lunch. After lunch I go to bed and I take a long nap - zzzzzz !!!

14:00 I get up. I sit at our computer and I see that I have to apply for a new driver's license because I have my 70th birthday in March - my goodness! I am reminded of Paul Simon's immortal words in "Bookends / Old Friends": "Can you imagine us years from today, sharing a park bench quietly? How terribly strange to be 70! ", Words which I first heard in 1968, when I was only 22 years old - my God, time really flies!

14:15 I spend another 2 hours on working on Sarah's forms and documents in connection with the sale of her old apartment in Cheltenham - my goodness, what a day!
