18:30 Lois skal af sted. Hun tager bussen ind i byen.
bymidten.

aftensmad. Jeg spiser maden foran fjernsynet.
19:30 Jeg tænder for fjernsynet. De viser ”Top of the Pops” fra maj 1982.
men
1981).

ind. Parret ønsker god bedring til deres datter, Heather (dengang 21 år gammel),
der lige har brækket benet.

Three.

De viser ”The Good Old Days”,
end mindre, mere komfortable, traditionelle sofaer. Men er det vigtigere at se
godt ud, eller at være komfortabel?
Programmets charmerende vært, Kevin McCloud, siger at huset opfylder de to

tilbage i sengen.
Lois har bestilt: ”Shrinking Violets, a
field guide to shyness”, af Joe Moran. Lois og jeg er begge to ”shrinking

I have a little time alone
tonight. I hurry into the kitchen and make dinner. I eat the food in front of
the television.
19:30 I turn on the television.
They show "Top of the Pops" from May 1982. BBC4 channel has been
starting to show every week some episodes of this series from 34 years ago.
In the last few weeks we have not
heard music of high quality - I am in no doubt about THAT! But tonight's
program goes beyond my expectations and it is really quite memorable - what a
surprise / shock !!!
I enjoy the program very much,
mainly because the director has finally at last established the show's formula
for the 1980's, ie a crazy party atmosphere, like a huge party with hundreds of
guests. It is also interesting that a new fashion has started - football songs
were coming into fashion. 1982 was the year when the FIFA World Cup took place
in Spain, and both the England team and the Scottish team had "gramophone
records" in the charts. I must admit that both songs were not that good,
but I suspect that the teams' fans bought them and they shot to the top - my
goodness, what a crazy world we live in !!!!
The teams' performance in the
World Cup was also not very good. Scotland were eliminated in the first round,
and England in the second - oh dear!

Gordon Sinclair, who later became a famous actor
the Scottish team also shot to the top
of the charts,
but in the World Cup, they were eliminated
in the first round - oh dear!
There was then a third football
song in the charts, sung by the Tottenham team along with the famous duo Chas
and Dave. In this case, the team was more successful. Later, in May 1982, they
won the FA Cup (they also won in 1981).

Just before the finale, we see
Paul McCartney and his wife, Linda, who unexpectedly drop in. The couple wish a
speedy recovery to their daughter, Heather (then 21 years old), who has just
broken her leg.

we see Paul signing autographs among the guests.

20:00 I continue to watch TV.
They show "The Good Old Days", a program that tries to recreate the atmosphere
of the old vaudeville theater.
20:45 I switch channels and watch
the last part of "Grand Designs": a married couple has had another
huge ugly house built in the countryside of Wales. It is also very minimalist
when it comes to furniture and the sofas are the usual modern sofas, too long, low
and deep. I can see that young people choose these kinds of sofas because they
look better in a huge room than smaller, more comfortable, traditional sofas.
But is it more important to look good, or to be comfortable?
The program's charming host,
Kevin McCloud says that the house meets the two great modern obsessions, ie
light and space, and the family says, as in all episodes of this series, that
the new house has completely changed their lives, but as usual they do not say
exactly how it has improved their everyday lives. Why not?
21:00 I switch channels again.
They show an interesting documentary about Terry Wogan, the famous TV host who
some months ago, sadly died. But Lois comes home again at 21:30 and it's nice
to be able to turn off the TV and talk a little bit before we go to bed.

22:00 We go to bed - zzzzzz !!!!!
4:30 I get up and do one of my
routine Danish vocabulary tests. Afterwards, I make two cups of tea, bring them
up to our bedroom and crawl back into bed. We are lazy and do not get up until
10am - oh dear!
11:00 Lois is suffering from
cystitis again, so after she has called the local medical clinic, we go along
to the pharmacy in the village and buy some pills.
Afterwards we move on to the
local library to pick up a book that Lois has ordered: "Shrinking Violets,
a field guide to shyness" by Joe Moran. Lois and I are both
"shrinking violets": we hide our light under a bushel, and the
extroverted ignore and discriminate against us, poor us !!! We must learn to
protect ourselves - I have no doubt !!! I think Lois and I were by chance hiding
under the same bushel together 47 years ago - it's a miracle that we got
together, I am sure of that !!!!
13:00 I hurry into the kitchen
and make lunch. Lois is still not so well despite the pills we were given by
the pharmacist. She calls the health system helpdesk and books a time (6pm) at
the local hospital's weekend clinic. She hopes that they will give her a
prescription for antibiotics. Poor Lois!
14:00 I go to bed and take a
gigantic afternoon nap - zzzzzz !!!!
16:00 I get up and we relax with
a cup of tea on the sofa.
