snakker.
og arbejder for tiden i Londons Great Ormond Street hospital.
dramaserier – hurra!
Catherine Steadman, den charmerende engelske skuespillerinde, opfylder
instruktørens ønske om at finde en kærlighedsinteresse for Carter. Hun spiller en
amerikansk kvinde, Maggie Lewis, der arbejder for New Yorks Metropolitan
Museum.
at
sovet i nat!
pludselig, at min clockradio må have
været 2 timer for hurtigt – pokkers (igen)!
Hun
hurra! For en måned siden var hun nummer 72 – du godeste!
Caro” Wozniacki, den danske tennis-darling, forsætter sit come-back
I januar tabte hun i
I denne
nummer 3 i verden, bag australieren Jason Day og amerikaneren Dustin Johnson –
hurra!
08:00 Jeg
skynder mig ind i køkkenet og laver to kopper te.
English translation
16:30 We speak a little on Skype
with our oldest daughter, Alison, who lives in Copenhagen along with Ed, her
husband and their three children, Josie (10 years), Rosalind (8) and Isaac (6).
The whole family are sitting in the living room of their house in Gentofte,
while we talk.
We speak a little on Skype with
our oldest daughter, Alison, who lives in Copenhagen,
along with Ed, her husband and their 3
children
It is a lot of fun to talk to
them about their lives in Copenhagen. The children's autumn break started last
Friday, so they are free for the next 7 days - hurrah! It interests Alison and
Ed, a lot to hear that Sarah, our youngest daughter, has finally got a
permanent job in Perth, Australia. Sarah has for the last 6 months worked for Competitive
Foods (operators of Hungry Jack's and Burger King fast food restaurants), while
the Perth office's permanent accountant has been on maternity leave.
Ed and Ali believe that the
extension on their old house in England will be finished by the end of
November, but there are no details yet on when Ed's mission in Copenhagen is to
end. Perhaps Ed's brother, Tom, will rent the house while he and Becky, his
wife, look for a new house in the Guildford area. Tom is a doctor and is
currently working in London's Great Ormond Street Hospital. Becky is a lawyer
working in Guildford. They are currently living with Becky's parents in
Farnham, which is a little difficult because the couple have two young children
- my goodness, I can well imagine THAT!
19:00 We have dinner and then we
spend the evening watching TV. They show "Tutankhamun", a new drama
series in 4 parts, which is about Howard Carter who found the young king's tomb
in 1922.
The first episode starts in the
years just before the First World War. It's nice to see Max Irons (as Carter)
and Sam Neill (as Lord Carnarvon) talking with the real aristocratic or upper
class accents of the period. They do not speak like pop singers for once, like many main characters in popular drama series - hurrah!
Catherine Steadman, the charming
English actress, meets the director's desire to find a love interest for
Carter. She plays an American woman, Maggie Lewis, who works for New York's Metropolitan Museum. I
do not know if Maggie is a real historical figure, or a fictional person who
just meets this important need!
It is obvious that Maggie has a
thing for Howard, but in the beginning it seems that Howard is only interested
in long dead people (and even then not in a sexual way ha ha ha). Later we see Howard and
Maggie kissing sitting on a couch the night before she has to travel back to New
York, because of the coming world war. But when Howard wakes up in the morning,
he is alone. He then comes across a note from her on his desk, "I hope you
find what you're looking for." My goodness, how touching! I suspect that
we will not see her again!
Lord Carnarvon (Carter cartridge), Howard
Carter and Maggie Lewis
Maggie shows Howard an old cup, which
Howard identifies as the young king's cup. It seems that the king brought his
favorite cup as he traveled from the country's old capital to the new one in
the "Valley of Kings". I remember that I used to bring my mandatory
favorite cup with me when I moved from old jobs to new posts in my previous
workplace!
It is obvious that Maggie has a thing for
Howard, but at first it seems,
Howard is only interested in long dead
people - oh dear!
Howard and Maggie kiss on a divan
In the morning Howard comes across a
short note from Maggie.
"I hope you find what you're looking
for!"
at the end of the first episode, all work
has to stop in Egypt,
because the First World War is beginning -
my god, what madness !!!!
22:00 We go to bed - zzzzz !!!!!
02:00 Suddenly I wake up in the
middle of the night. I become aware that our radio in the kitchen is on. I rush
down the stairs to turn it off. Sometimes we press the radio alarm button by
mistake - damn!
04:00 I wake up again. I look at
the clock radio next to the bed. It says 6 o'clock - my goodness! I feel like I
have not slept last night! I get up.
I do one of my routine Danish
vocabulary tests. I realize suddenly that my clock radio must have been two
hours fast - damn (again)!
I look a little on the internet
and I see that Caroline Wozniacki, the Danish tennis darling, continues her
comeback on the world ranking in tennis. After her victory in the WTA
tournament Hong Kong Open she is 17th in the world - hurrah! A month
ago she was number 72 - my god!
"Caro" Wozniacki, the Danish
tennis darling, continues her comeback
My God (again) - what a surprise!
She began the current season so badly that I thought she was completely
finished and washed up as the official Danish tennis darling - in other words,
it was curtains for her! In January she lost in the first round of the
Australian Open to Yulia Putintseva, and at Wimbledon, it was also a defeat in
the first round to Svetlana Kuznetsova - oh dear! This season, she has been on
a rollercoaster ride, no doubt about it !!!!
It's strange that her career is
similar in success / failure in a peculiar way to the career of her
ex-boyfriend, the British golfer Rory McIlroy, who dropped her a few years ago
after their wedding invitations had already been sent out - oh dear, that must
have hurt, I'm sure of that !!!
Rory is now at number 3 in the
world behind Australian Jason Day and American Dustin Johnson - hurrah!
08:00 I hurry into the kitchen
and make two cups of tea. I bring them up to our bedroom and crawl back into
our bed. We drink the tea and take a shower. We get up and eat breakfast.
10:30 We go out into the garden
and weed a bit in the vegetable garden. We are making progress with the
autumn's gardening - I have no doubt about THAT!!!!!
Things are progressing with the autumn's
gardening - no doubt about it !!!!
12:30 We eat lunch and afterwards
I go to bed and take a gigantic afternoon nap - zzzzzz !!!!
15:30 I get up and we relax with
a cup of tea on the sofa.
