for min ven, ”Magyar Mike”.
morgen for at deltage i vores regelmæssige ugentlige ”ungarske time”.
ungarsk.
10:00 Min ven, ”Magyar Mike” ankommer. I dag er vores regelmæssige
ugentlige ungarske time.
min
ven ”Magyar” Mike i Spanien
hendes tilbud.
sin "Thank Goodness It Fits" t-shirt !!!!
Bare
alle de olympiske atleter kunne adoptere denne slags træning tidsplan!!
Hun var også lidt af en ulykkesfugl. Hun var i gang med at tørre håret i et
hotel i Schweiz, da hendes hårtørrer ødelagte hotellets hele elektrisk system –
English translation
18:00 We eat dinner and watch two episodes of Big Bang Theory, our favorite
sitcom (the 8th season). We are preparing to see the new (10th) season,
when it starts Oct. 19 - hurrah! Enthusiasm grows bit by bit!
We're looking forward to seeing Big Bang Theory's
new season - hurrah!
Meanwhile, we see two old
episodes, while we eat dinner
19:00 I sit in front of my laptop
and draft a Hungarian vocabulary test for my friend, "Magyar Mike".
He and his wife, Mary, have been in Spain on vacation for a few weeks, but I
think they are now back, and Mike will visit me tomorrow to participate in our
regular weekly "Hungarian hour". He has asked me to prepare a
vocabulary test, which consists of 50 English words on the topic of travel /
holidays etc which I want him to translate into Hungarian
20:00 We continue to watch TV.
They show University Challenge and Only Connect, two of the few programs that
are not suitable for very stupid people ha ha ha!
21:00 They show Grand Designs.
Kevin McCloud, the program's charming host, visits a married couple, Philip and
Angela, who have converted an old barn in Surrey into a modern house.
I am very pleased that Philip and
Angela decided to keep the barn's old roof and I must admit that the building
looks quite good when you see it from the outside, apart from the huge front
window of course!
the building looks quite good apart from
the huge front window!
I especially love the barn's old roof.
But when you look inside the
house, it is very disappointing, especially the huge living room, with little
furniture and lots of wasted space (so difficult to heat) that resembles a
giant open-plan office. The sofas that Angela chose, have backs that are
ridiculously low and short - back pain in store for the whole family, I think
!!!!
Unfortunately the living room resembles a
gigantic open plan office - oh dear!
The sofas' backs are ridiculously low and
short - pass the sickbag, Alice !!!
I notice that Angela speaks much
more than Philip, and is the driving force behind the couple and behind the
project itself. I feel sorry for Philip - his favorite room is the little
"snug", ie the back room where, according to Philip it is
"always warm" (he implies that the living room is not very warm!!!!).
He likes to see his "small television" in there where it's cozy.
Unfortunately, Angela, his wife,
and Kevin, the program's host, laugh at Philip. They both obviously prefer huge
rooms and huge televisions - I have no doubt about THAT! Poor Philip !!!!!
Angela and Kevin laugh at Philip, because
he prefers the small back room - oh dear!
If someone asks me to choose
teams, I'm definitely on Philip's team - small rooms, small TVs, comfortable
armchairs - hurrah!
22:00 We go to bed - zzzzzz !!!!!
5:00 I get up early and do one of
my routine Danish vocabulary tests. Afterwards, I make two cups of tea and
bring them up to our bedroom. I creep back into our bed. Later, we go in the
shower and afterwards we eat breakfast.
10:00 My friend, "Magyar
Mike" arrives. Today is our regular weekly Hungarian hour. Mike is
becoming more and more rusty when it comes to speaking and understanding the
Hungarian language. But it is true that he is 10 years older than me - my god!
Mike and Mary, his wife, have
been in Spain on vacation for a couple of weeks. I hear a little about what
they did over there.
my friend "Magyar" Mike in Spain
Mike's eldest grandson, Stephen,
who is reading law at Lancaster University, has traveled to Prague to read
European law for a year, as part of his four-year degree course at Lancaster.
Mike and Mary would like to visit him next year.
11:00 Mike has to go. Lois and I
relax with a cup of coffee on the couch.
11:30 We go out and do some
weeding in the vegetable garden. Then we eat lunch.
12:30 I go to bed and take a
giant nap - zzzzzz !!!!
15:00 I get up and listen a
little to a radio program, "The Last Word", because I want to know if
anyone has died or not in the past 1-2 weeks.
It turns out that only 5 people
died - hurrah, so do not panic! I have noticed that most weeks there are only
about 5 deaths. I do not know if anyone in the past week has been born or not
(the program is silent about that!), So I assume that the world's population
has fallen by 5 too.
Unfortunately Beryl Crockford,
renowned British rowing champion, has died at 66 years. She was the first female
British rower to win a gold medal.
Beryl Crockford, the British
Olympic rower, recently died unfortunately at 66 years
She tried to persuade Tampax, a
company that manufactures tampons, to sponsor her, but Tampax refused
to accept her offer. Finally, Playtex, a company that manufactures bras agreed
to sponsor her, and she loved to wear her Playtex "Thank Goodness It Fits"
t-shirt as often as possible.
Playtex agreed to sponsor Beryl, and she loved to wear
her "Thank Goodness It Fits" t-shirt!
I liked Beryl because she did not
train much during the four years between Olympics and she used to stuff herself
with cakes and ice cream - hurrah! A few weeks before the start of the games
she used to go on a temporary diet. In my opinion this attitude is the true
spirit of Olympic amateurism. If only all the Olympic athletes could adopt this
kind of workout schedule !!
She was also a bit of a jinx. She
was starting to dry her hair in a hotel in Switzerland when her hair-dryer
wrecked the hotel's entire electrical system – oh dear, what a mess!
16:00 We relax with a cup of tea
on the sofa.
